Many classes are offered but it can be frustrating that the schedules are no longer posted on bulletin board outside of classroom. If one wanted to spontaneously join a class they don't know what it is. I'm sure can look up online but is always easier to have it right there. Other Y's have several schedules posted.
I enjoy the Core and yoga programs.
Lakewood is always a Great workout, Thanks for the update equipment in the YMCA
I love that so many of the classes are free and require no sign up
Yoga and strength training classes
Your facility has a great variety of classes and opportunities to increase your physical health.
I don't use any of the programs or activities.
Mainly I use the pool open swim hours. Some things I would like to see improved:
-sometimes the cleanliness of the pool deck is not as good as it should be.
-the Y does not do a good job of notifying members when the pool schedule is changed for special events. Twice in the last 6 months I have arrived at the pool to find it is either closed or soon to be closed for a special event. Nothing was communicated via email or the 360 app. I have complained about this and basically got the brush off. Special events are certainly known well in advance and should be communicated in advance to members.
Scheduling
I love how kind they are. The access to day care so I dnt have to find a sitter. The gym is always clean and no one bothers us while we work out.
I love the various chair yoga classes.
I only did the water exercises, it was really good.
Exercise Classes, coffee area
1. At the pool with the trainer is Marrie
on every Monday from 9 - 10AM
2. The Silver Sneakers plan on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9-10AM , 10 - 11 AM with Suzy and Cindy
Family friendly, community minded- most of what we are looking for in a family gym.
The large variety of group exercises offered. I also like how the instructors are so patient with new members.
I like instructors: Andrea (Mon 10:15 AM Silver Sneakers and Donna (Fri. 8 am yoga).
All the group exercise instructors are very professional, kind and friendly. I like the variety of classes however I wish some of them (Pilates, yoga, etc) would also be outside working hours. Overall I have a great experience at the Y.
Very consistent product. More than sufficient workout equipment.
Need improved showers and the shower area floor cleaned more frequently.
Usually just use the weight room and shoot baskets in the gym. I have more recently used the Hydro chair after work out. Love that. This year I’m going to look into some agility and Stretching classes
Varied activities and trips offered for older adults.
The sauna, hot tub, and pool availability are wonderful as an adult. The zero depth entry pool, hours open, and incredible swim lessons are an absolute gem for our kiddos!
I love the offerings the YMCA has to offer. My favorite offering is honestly the sauna but I would like to express some frustrations regarding it. Phone's should not be allowed in their for a variety of reasons but the biggest one is safety. I understand the chances of a phone overheating or earpods overheating are potentially low, but they still shouldn't be brought in there. With temperatures varying from 130 - 190 at times, that's not the place for a smart phone. It also goes against common sauna etiquette. A sauna emphasizes relaxation and privacy, it should be technology-free. I love music, don't get me wrong, but I don't want to hear other people's blasting through their headphones when I'm trying to absorb the benefits of a sauna.
Welcoming, caring, easy access. Excellent instructors, teachers and personnel.
I really enjoy the class offerings. Also the atmosphere and vibe of the Lakewood Y is wonderful.
yoga tai chi
Good clean. Place
I love yoga and the silver sneakers class is so upbeat and fun!
I like the pool, dance classes. Machines counting reps
I love our senior programs which are attracting a younger crowd too. Relaxing on the aqua lounger is what I look forward to after classes. Our book club has opened me up to a variety of new book authors.

The staff, the teachers, the facility, those who work out there, seeing families and people of all ages. It IS a community!
