What's not to like? There's something for everyone
I had a transplant of my liver almost 3 years ago. When I was first released from the hospital after months of therapy and treatments the only thing I could do was swim. The RC door YMCA in Burlington was perfect for me they had an indoor heated pool where I could do therapy exercise and get back into some form of good shape. If it hadn't been for that one thing I don't know what shape I'd be in today. My doctors were pleasantly surprised at how well I did by the second year. I give all the credit to the YMCA especially the RC Durr YMCA in Burlington. Plus the staff there were very helpful especially Parker and Carrie.
I like the water aerobics classes. God instructors and fellowship.
Parking is OK most of the time. Easy check in. Everyone is nice and greet members at the door. Don't like to have to sign up before but every club is doing pre class registrations. Nice classrooms but the baseboards need to be cleaned, at least the larger room. The dust bunnies are thick! And they have been for MONTHS! They were missed in the end of August cleaning.
I like the instructors. Wish there were more aerobic type classes like step aerobics or even more aerobic activity beyond just weightlifting and balance. I miss Stacy Morris's step and mixed aerobic classes. I used to take 2-3 classes in a row like 8:15, 9:00 and 10:15 to make my driving trip more worthwhile. I do stay for both the power lift and balance classes.
I've never been in the pools.
The YMCA childcare programs have been great. They work well with my work schedule and being able to send my oldest son there on days his school is closed has been super helpful. I am very appreciative!
Variety of options and times to fit every work/school schedule.
I like
The Skees center where I participate has a variety of activities that keep my week interesting.
I especially enjoy the art on Monday, the bridge game and bingo on Wednesday, and the bingo on Friday. And once a month there is Mexican Train (dominoes), and the activity on this second Thursday of the month sometimes varies to various card games. We generally have six to eight participants on this particular day and all enjoy the change-up.
The directors at our center are very hospitable and accommodate the various needs of the senior participants, sometimes a challenging event, but Jeanie and Teresa are very capable and adaptive to the instant situations.
Weights / aerobic
I like swimming and being able to reserve a lane.
Pickleball
Outstanding staff and instructors.
Just signed up and can’t wait to try it out!
I use the pool and gym
Friendly Employees. Clean surroundings. Silver Sneakers Class. The Instructors are awesome! Enjoy all the friends that I have made at the Y.
Love Zumba , yoga, weight classes and water cardio classes. I wish I do more of them but some of them overlap with timing.
I just started, enjoyed my time there. Loved the Bible study. Everyone is very friendly and informative
Many to choose from
I really enjoy the programs. Easy way to get out and meet people of my own age and interest.
The Durr YMCA is lively, with people of all ages.
Jimmy M is a great trainer.
Great staff at the desk. Clean facilities. Great classes.
Same aged participants
I love the Monday night strength and cardio class with Kristin Heitman. Let’s just say that if that class were not available I likely would not continue with my membership.
I love the treadmills and circuit options.
Love the Nustep machine and all the 9 machines near them. These are the ones that I use each time.
Hours of operation and quality of devices in fitness center.
I like doing personal training. It is the best thing to happen to my fitness journey, wouldn't change that for the world. I mostly just use the gym in regards to being a member. If I could recommend anything that should be changed at the YMCA I would say that there should be a time limit on weight machines. There is a couple recently who comes to the YMCA and they take over all the leg machines and don't let anyone else use them, I would like to see a staff member be present in the weight room area so that these things don't occur. This couple stays on the leg machines for almost 2 hours, not letting anyone go in between their sets. As a member this makes me angry when I am paying to use the machines and other members aren't being respectful. Also not allowing phone usage in the fitness area is ridiculous, I am a person who likes to do videos of my workouts so I can see how I am improving or what needs work. I was happily sharing my fitness journey online with friends and family, now I can't do that anymore. Why should other members have to suffer because of something someone else did? Also I get upset when the main bathrooms get closed and they are only for children to use. For those with health issues, this is concerning. I don't want to have to go to the locker room to use the bathroom when there is a public one right next to the fitness center. The YMCA needs to design a bathroom dedicated to the children programs during the day, members shouldn't have to suffer.
Inclusive. Offer many choices for all ages
Haven’t tried all the programs yet but like how they offer a lot of things for my child to do and that they have child care to help with our children so that us the parents can workout or do other things and know our kids are safe.
The variety and the people.

Everyone is friendly and inviting. Pickleball is the main reason I’m there.
Please wash your water fountains. I forgot my water bottle and was kind of afraid to drink from the fountain…not clean.
