Member Testimonials
The Weinberg Y is a welcoming space for all, including for families in Baltimore City, and has personally saved my sanity and my fitness routine as a parent of young children. The fitness instructions I've encountered have all been high-energy and motivating, helping me to keep to a consistent class routine. My children have had a great experience with the swim classes. I appreciate the early and late operating hours for flexibility and the many events for kids and families on the weekends and evenings, and most especially appreciate Stay and Play so that I have the opportunity to get in a good workout midweek while the kids enjoy themselves. Associates are all friendly and helpful, and the environment reflects the diversity of the broader community in all facets.
Variety of classes and friendly staff
Has all the equipment I need. Clean with good air conditioning.
Grateful to the Y for all the memories my son & I have made over the years! It's just the 2 of us so finding activities we can do together becomes harder the older he gets. The Y has been essential to our bonding. The groups from The Rites of Passage to Big Brothers/Big Sisters I hope will inspire him to grow into a mentor for youth when he’s of age. The Y will Always be Our Happy Place!!
It is clean and bright. It has people from all sorts of backgrounds. It has great programs for kids. The staff are super friendly and helpful. This is a huge gift to the comkunity
Everything what I would live to do is the swim exercise classes or just the family swim and just to make it at least 2-3 times a week i love the day care part the way your greeted when you come in the family stem I would also love to make the chair exercise classes and the line dance class on Fridays
I would recommend two things.
1) the mini lockers in the hallway are needing to be reset. Looks like someone locked them incorrectly making are large portion of them unusable.
2) the workout circuit machines need occasional monitoring by one of the blue shirt Y attendants. People frequently sit doom scrolling on their phones instead of doing reps and moving on. Maybe signage in the are would help. Maybe a business opportunity for one of the trainers as sitting at a machine like it's a recliner is really not a effective work out.
I understand this is a problematic thing to manage as it may offend someone, but it's not fair to other members who would like to get a workout completed in a reasonable amount of time.
Overall, I appreciate the YMCA and the role it plays in supporting health, fitness, and community wellness. The facility provides a solid fitness environment, but there are a few additions that would make the member experience even stronger.
I would love to see the facility consider adding a therapeutic hot tub or whirlpool, especially for recovery, joint relief, and post-workout relaxation. This would be a major benefit for members who train regularly, play sports, or are managing stiffness, soreness, or mobility issues.
From an equipment standpoint, I would also recommend adding a pec deck/rear delt machine for chest and shoulder development, as well as a seated lat pulldown machine to better support back training and upper-body strength. These are common strength-training pieces that would help round out the fitness area and better serve members focused on resistance training.
Lastly, it would be great if the Y could offer sports massage or recovery services, even on a limited schedule or through a partner provider. That would align well with overall wellness, injury prevention, and active aging.
Thank you for continuing to improve the facility and for giving members the opportunity to provide feedback.
The Waverly Y has brought a new dimension to my life. I’m an old lady with time on my hands and questions in my mind, like, what to do today? The Y has erased that! The minute I joined the Y everyone at the front desks made me feel welcomed and not only with their words but also with their smiles and their eyes. I’m so grateful to this organization and celebrate the day I joined.
Zumba with Kirsten Ledford is a critical piece of my week, my community, and my overall well-being
Close yo home
Excellent facilities. Friendly environment. Great parking,
Nervous over returning to a gym after years away, my experience coming back was easy and I was able to get a great workout in. I want to thank the ladies at the front desk. The warm welcome early in the morning eased my nerves. I was surprised with the new and expanded machine area. The only thing was iffy was the locker room. The mats by the lockers looked a bit grungy. However with my shower shoes I was able to get my shower quickly and head to work.
Next week I start back in full and look forward to many mornings getting my health together.
I love my y on 33rd Street. I am a pastor that does bible study every 1st. Monday with the Active Older Adults from 10:30 to 12 noon.

Hey, my son loves it because he comes home from school when he goes there to school and he plays his practice. His basketball for basketball season works out in the gym. He does a lot of other things relax then he comes home and beats me out there in the street playing at the at the ball court when trouble is always happening and I like it because I like to exercise and walk stuff it’s very pleasant and this is why we like coming to the Y.
I enjoy the yoga classes and the workout equipment.
am anxious to use the eliptical and rowing machine.

Truly professional staff
The young lady at the Front Desk that helped us was very professional and very informative.
Great family friendly place and equipment
I don't like gyms, I love the Y. From the first time I went into the Y so many years ago, it was a welcoming, inclusive, and safe community-centered space for self-care, where folks of all fitness levels and body types can focus on health and wellbeing, without harassment or judgement.
Been a member of the Y in three different states and as I have come to expect from the Y, the Weinberg and Druid Hill Ys knock it out of the park.
Am grateful for the sliding scale memberships, making this important part of my self-care accessible in difficult times, when you need it the most.
The Family the individuality you experience and the care and cleanliness of the Facilities time to shape stretch run ride and ready yourself help maintain a good body balance and control

Will took his time to give us a tour of the building, and he was very informative about the classes and what was available to us. In addition he was very pleasant to me and my children.
