I am so happy to have found the YMCA. All the instructors are so welcoming and there is a sense of community when attending the exercise classes. I love how encouraging everyone is in the classes. I love the mixed ethnicities and ages as well. The childcare is such a relief. My daughter loves the swimming lessons and has learned to swim here. I attended the YMCA as a kid and am so blessed to be able to take my kids here as well. I look forward to attending every class I take or just watching my daughter swim. I tell everyone about the YMCA. It has helped me get back to exercise after having two young children and being in school. It brings me so much joy. Thank you!
Convenient
I like the diversity and inclusiveness
I attend the gym 3x/wk on most weeks. The equipment is very good. I miss the type of backstretcher Cybex machine that I had at the Ashford Dunwoody Y. Also, there is a need for a second rowing machine. Another ask is to make an area with rubber mats for people who want to do pushups, situps, physio ball exercise. At present there is only one "dark corner" at the rear of the gym for this type of activity. I would also like an e-newsletter each month listing the classes offered and the times for these activities.
Facility is updated & vlean
The culture of embracing diversity and the way everyone is so welcoming.
Family and diverse oriented.
The ladies that teach the classes are all Awesome. The variety of classes is great!
The outdoor pool and water slide are so essential for the summer! Not every neighborhood has its own pool and it’s been important to find a way to stay cool this summer. We basically join the Y just for this.
I love the workout facility! It's clean, has so much variety in equipment and most of the equipment is new. I absolutely love the outside pool area with the water mushroom, water spouts and the water slide. So much fun and relaxing. The staff is amazing, so helpful and always smiling to greet you
Eeverrything is very well organized.Thank you so much!
Machines are great!
love tai chi and senior strength with Augustine
We have only visited once but loved the outdoor pool area and hope we can come back soon to enjoy the rock wall as well!
Joining the Y is the best thing I ever did for myself! Open at 5 am and greeted by kindness. Everything you could ever need with classes galore AND a real sense of belonging! I kid you not!
Love all the classes! The instructors are wonderful and encouraging. Shout out to Elsa, Meghan, Christine Neely, Robin and Karen. They are the best and keep me motivated to reach my goals. I look forward to coming to the Y and have developed great friendships.
I mostly swim and also work out a little. The indoor pool is great. I wish I could come in and swim at a moments notice like I used to, though, instead of always having to plan so far ahead because of the lane reservations, which tend to fill up a day in advance. Although most of the time there is at least one no-show, so sometimes I'll risk it and go anyway.
Helpful staff and the facility is well maintained and clean.
The staff and cleanliness
Outdoor pool!
Pool.
Wish there were kid-friendly indoor places to sit and eat in the winter. I'm the summer we bring dinner and eat poolside outside.
Also strange that you don't allow kids in the locker rooms, but have easily 15 in lessons at the same time, which is way more than the family locker room can accommodate
Multiple programs to choose from with leaders who are talented and care. Facility is always clean and fresh. I use the weight room and pool. Plenty of machines to get a workout and the pool is easy to access and both are staffed properly. There is a sense of 'family' at the location. People are smiling and engaging. I've met so many people - both staff and regulars - that it would be hard to change locations. Grateful for the hearts and expertise of the men and woman at the Alpharetta Y.
Staff who are friendly (Dave is one in the wellness program). The exercise classes.
The recent management changes seem linked with a kind of 'sterilization' of the facility. It seems 'empty' and void of spirit. The exercise machines were moved and reconfigured without regard to health matters (treadmills now inches apart). Several of the essential strength machines were arbitrarily removed(!). Many good staff left. Why are there managers not working with the members and being a part of the operation while the place seems empty at times? I have consistently voiced problems with vending machines, including the removal of diet beverages or any beverages w caffeine (e.g., coke zero). No reponse
I recommend the wellness center for those who are physically active and need to address there health maintenance issues. I like the wellness staff for there kind the helpful attention. They are to true blessing to the Ed Isaacson YMCA.
There are programs and activities for all ages and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Economical, supportive 9f needs and senior citizen, good options for excecise
