The Y is family-friendly offering programs that interest my whole family. My 13 year old recently participated in the e-sports club which was a great way to get him from behind a keyboard at home to interacting with other youth in person, doing what he likes to do. I believe this personal interaction is becoming lost in this generation and I appreciate the Y’s forward thinking in offering such a program.
It’s nice to be greeted at the front desk and Lilla’s fierce funk‘s class is brilliant!
Variety of classes offered
Pickleball
Love the indoor pool and Wednesday evening Zumba class!
Very clean facility - the whirlpool is super clean and the steam room is very nice with the smell of lemon grass. This facility also has an outdoor pool which is a plus.
Improvements needed in the women’s shower- should make sure all showers have hot water (change the cartridges at the valve), as well as adequate pressure so that customers can get out of facility on time.
Also, a hot line should be added to the rinse off shower near the whirlpool- the water is very cold.
Even in spite of this, it’s an excellent facility and I would highly recommend .
Instructors Variety of senior classes and late morning scheduling. Commitment to have substitute instructors so that "the show must go on" and we are not left without class options. I've heard some seniors say that these classes are all they have to do outside the home.
We are loving the Y so far! Great facilities and the staff is very nice and helpful.
Great array of activities and the quality of the weights.
Swimming
Excellent indoor pool for lap swim workouts!
Something for everyone
Everything
Awesome place for family menbership
The Y is convenient and clean. There are many classes available which is what I prefer. I wish that there were more yoga classes and possibly a Pilates/Yoga class.
Love the 45 minute classes!!!
Please keep them at 45 minutes. It is perfect!
Love the walking track and the wellness classes.
Caring trainers/staff and variety of programs
Fantastic senior programs with great instructors.
Clean gym, great daycare, amazing pool
Something should be done about tennis court reservations, especially now that there are two less tennis courts. People still book the courts and never show up, which is very inconsiderate to those that are looking to book a court. There must be consequences for those who book a court and don't show up to play.
Facilities are great.Do not normally partake in programs and activities so have no opinion .However, programs and activities appear to be excellent for children of Atlanta.
You have a lot. The schedule and sign-up process is overwhelming to me.
I like the new gym equipment. I also like that there are a number of programs for seniors. It is nice that they accept some med advantage fees for membership even though they told me they don’t accept my plan - Cigna
I normally use the Decatur Y, but was in this part of town, so tried it out.
The yoga room was very spacious, with a good supply of the necessary supports; the teacher was knowledgeable and responsive; and the facility altogether was clean, quiet, and pleasant to use.
A good experience! I live too far for this to be my usual Y, but am glad to recommend it to others.
I like most things but I'd like to tell you about something I do not like.
In the room with the weight machines (ground floor - across from weight room) there are or used to be signs limiting people's use of the machines to 1 set if others are waiting to use the machine.
We also have signs saying cell phone use is not allowed.
Very good...but!
What I see now and what irritates me is that a very large % of the membership use the machines as "resting places" from which to take care of email, send or review texts or read internet.
I frequently see people monopolizing machines for 10 minutes or even 15 minutes while they sit there - not using the machine - with their cell phones in hand.
On a few occasions when I have been at the Y trying to do my workout, almost half of the machines have been tied up by people playing with their cell phones.
Granted, at least they aren't talking on their cell phones (which seems to be the only thing the signs against using cell phones mean), but these people are still clogging the works and delaying everyone else with their extraordinarily selfish fascist command of the seat.
I wish the Y would address this problem.
Wide variety of classes, equipment, programs; great, dedicated teachers; quality equipment.
I absolutely love the management and place location
The Sanders facility is consistent.

This is a great facility! I really enjoy the workout classes offered, especially the more vigorous classes/instructors (namely: Terri M, Betsy, Corinne P., Maura, and Monica G). I love that I can use the empty workout room upstairs when it's not in use.
