Member Testimonials
I mainly come to the Y currently to lap swim at the pool. I absolutely love that the pool and locker rooms are always clean, but the most important part is the comfort and safety I feel using the facilities. I’ve tried swimming at multiple gyms at the past and have had uncomfortable experiences with men (I’m 26 and a woman for context), but at the North Austin YMCA I’ve only ever had great interactions with kind and friendly people. I never worry or feel unsafe coming onto the campus, and I think a lot of that comes from the staff + the level of respect that the members have for one another. Not specifically related to this question about programs and activities, but I’ve yet to mention this to anyone at the North Austin YMCA and always tell me friends about it when encouraging them to join. Thank y’all for everything and giving me a safe space!
I like the variety of classes and the community engagement you get at the YMCA! There are people of all ages, ethnicities, religions, sizes and shapes. It’s truly a place where all people are welcome to come together and better themselves. Whether it’s through exercise classes or literacy programs. The YMCA is the definition of civic engagement!
Good facility, friendly staff
Availability for classes I want
Quit with the freaking surveys!!! Enough is enough. I love the YMCA but the constant surveys are a pain in the &$$.
Had everything I needed, and the staff was absolutely amazing.
The fact that the Y is starting more programs for seniors if what I like most about my Y
There is a wide range of classes that are included with the monthly fee! I also always feel welcome—all experience and fitness levels are welcomed.

Great and caring instructors. Variety of classes.
A great variety of programs and classes; competent instructors; friendly staff; clean facility with top-notch equipment; non threatening environment; sociable members.
I was very uncomfortable with being in a locker room, feeling judged or ashamed. The school experiences I've had with PE and other people were not inspiring. Guess what? No one else in there cares what I look like. I go and take the classes I want, do the Physical Therapy I need, and when I'm done - I can soak in the spa. It's a healthy treat! I go home feeling like I'm glowing and happy. My pain levels are less, and my strength is better. I'm kicking myself for not making this choice earlier.
EVERYONE - staff, fellow members, instructors - there's a community of care that really is welcoming and comfortable. People know each other's birthdays, or have parties that are open house. It's more than I imagined the Y could be.
I enjoy the pool and the classes. The instructors genuine care about teaching the right form and want you to grasp it completely.

Super clean and welcoming!
I can gear my workout and frequency to my needs.
Nikita is awesome! But the last swim class she was in had too many kids and she barely had a chance to learn anything. Would highly recommend it if the classes were smaller
