They seem very geared toward keeping kids passionate about music. My kids' teachers help them learn the songs the kids are interested in, which makes lessons fun for them and keeps them from getting bored.

This is one of the most welcoming and creative places in Evanston. The teachers and staff all care deeply for the students and families, and everyone is passionate about making music and having fun while doing it!
I like kids can take private lesson and band lesson. I also like there are performance opportunities a few times a year.
Lessons
I love the progression the kids take from basic lessons to start and within a year are transitioning to learning how to be part of an actual band that does real performances in local venues. No other program offers that type of experience.
This has been a great program for our daughter. She was hesitant to preform at first, but has discovered her love of performing.
Everything has been great, from getting kids playing songs right away, to switching up instruments, and the communication all throughout, I highly recommend School of Rock!

Outstanding teachers and amazing management! Bryan, Maggie and Danielle are the best!! My son has been taking lessons at School of Rock since he was in 3rd grade. He was playing the drums at a different program and wanted to quit but a friend of mine recommended that my son take lessons with Bryan Resendiz. Here we are, my son is now a junior, still taking lessons with Bryan and I can honestly say having Bryan as a teacher has been nothing but a blessing! Not only is Bryan a very talented musician, he is truly a gifted very kind teacher. My son soon wanted to take lessons on additional instruments, which School of Rock makes easy and affordable. My son has found his passion and made amazing friends too! So yes I very highly recommend School of Rock Highwood!!

We have been sending all 4 of our kids to SOR Highwood for several years. We have had our kids in classes ranging from ages 7-18. We are so thrilled with the impact that the teachers and the programs have made on our kids. Our kids love playing in bands with other kids - it has really sharpened their musical skills and playing their performances in public settings has built the confidence needed to play in front of others. The teachers are talented, patient and provide good lesson plans for the songs the kids are rehearsing. If your child is looking for fun musical opportunities, we highly recommend SOR Highwood - our kids have certainly been positively impacted and their love of playing and listening to music would not be the same without SOR Highwood.
The energy is terrific. Instructors are great. They get our son and know how to keep it interesting and exciting.
The atmosphere of the school is always a welcoming, friendly environment. It’s our happy place for two hours every Saturday. The Manager, Erin, is always upbeat and helpful. My Son’s Teacher, Scott and Band Director, Shaefer are encouraging and really work with the kids to bring out their best.
