Customer Testimonials
The teachers are patient with the kids. Had our first Rock 101 performance and was really impressed with the fun they had and the skills of the other bands!
Fun, group performance based learning method
The teachers are so supportive, and the performance aspect of the program makes all the difference!
The enthusiasm for music created by the teachers and the culture of the school.
I love the teachers my son has had with his Little Wing class. Everyone is kind, makes the class so fun, and very talented musicians! I am excited to have my son learn from them and grow into his musicianship!
I have been very impressed with new management, encouraging ear protection, summer camp instructors and staff, rearrangement of front office, keeping adults in lobby Vs having them all go to back room was good change as well, the most recent show at bowling alley was amazing and great time management. Overall, great job school of rock! The teachers and staff and safety protocols are amazing!!
I love that there are so many options for adults. The kids get the priority — as they should — but the adult offerings are great too. My best friends in this new-to-me part of the country came from School of Rock, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
We love the deep sense of community and the dedication to learning while having fun!
Flexibility. The friendliness and community of the whole experience.
The performance aspect is the best by far!
My daughter tried Tennis, swim, fencing, pairing, drawing, balé, modern dancing, gymnastics and others but she really found herself in music and she loves to go to School of Rock. The difference is the people in Johns Creek.
This place is amazing! Many have written about the awesome environment and super cool teachers - and that’s all true. But what I want to lift up is the school of rock Watertown’s fierce commitment to inclusivity and meeting every learner where they are. These teachers can truly teach to all kinds of minds, and create a space where every kid can thrive as themselves. It’s unique, genuine, and it truly rocks! We cannot recommend this program enough!
Everyone is treated equally.
Teachers and staffs are very nice and helpful to the kids. The school has flexible re-schedule system to accommedate our ad hoc time change requests, thanks to their large base of competent teachers.
My kids feel seen and supported socially and artistically- and they are learning SO much about music, teamwork and good process. We are so grateful to the instructors and staff at SoR - they are well organized and the follow through on feedback and scheduling is consistent and excellent. Thank you!!
Sound music comp fundamentals, solfege, performance mastery
I have recommended to friends. Some big plusses:
* Unique offering
* Supportive instructors
* My kids are enjoying it
* While I was initially skeptical about the bands (as were my kids), I was wrong. The performances have been incredible experiences and so good for confidence
You didn't ask, but here are some ways to make it better:
* Not sure how, but somehow more flexibility and options for the bands would help. My kids are more on the Pop spectrum, so some of the rock music isn't super appealing to them
* Logistics of getting kids to and from lessons and rehearsals is a constant challenge. is there a way to facilitate carpooling among families in the same town (who want to opt in)? E.g., I'd be happy to share my email/phone and neighborhood with all families in the same band to see if there might be somebody else who we could carpool with
* I would love a bit more feedback on how my child is growing and progressing. The most important thing is seeing them perform. But, for example, for swim lessons there are standard skills to learn and a simple set of 4 levels to indicate how advance of a swimmer you are. I don't know if you're teaching my kids how to sight read. When does that start? How do you decide if they are ready to move beyond Rock 101? I would feel even better if I knew they were learning some more core musicianship skills on top of what I can observe from the performances.
Excellent, thoughtful instructors and management team. Our son has loved his time at SoR Watertown, wants to spend MORE time there, and his skills have continued to improve significantly.
I was so amazed with the dedication and enthusiasm of the staff. The hard work really pays off for the students growth and learning. The spring show was extraordinary!!
Offerings of different music genres, excellent and talented instructors and music directors.
Knowledgeable and friendly teachers.
The staff, the flexibility, and the communication!
The performance programs are really helpful to the participants; these work as confidence booster. Performing in live environment 3-4 times for a kid is great learning phase.
School of Rock has a 3-4 month performance program that is second-to-none. The young musicians choose a genre and join that band. Then, they practice for 3-4 months and play out at local establishments to show their skills. I love the fact that these kids have the opportunity to play with different musicians every season. While your child is rehearsing with the performance program, they also take lessons on their chosen instrument with one of the many skilled instrumental teachers on staff.
Also, if your child has the privilege to become a member of House Band, they play all over Monmouth County showcasing their talents while gaining performance experience.
Enrolling our son in School of Rock was the best decision we’ve ever made.
Zack is a great teacher and all the staff are great. The adult program is well-designed to build on previous lessons.
Kids get theory, fun, and note reading all at once.
They are awesome!
My son was afraid of playing in front of people, now he is not. All the instructors are great motivators and talented artist.
Highly recommend your programs to anyone who wants to get out and play! School of Rock will make it happen!
I liked that you mostly pushed them hard. It was tough but it showed them what they could accomplish in a short period of time.
I would have had the piano playing more chords rather than simply following the bass line (at least for my 10 year old) but I think the presumption is that they can’t do it rather than asking.
Overall it was a wonderful experience in accelerated learning and performance - they want to come back.
My son loves going to practice. After going to three different schools for guitar lessons, School of Rock is his favorite.
Cool instructors, meet kids where they are and makes it fun, not academic!
