Our son has been thru several shows, in which were organized and practiced very well, the instructors gave great feedback, and delivered key points to focus on for the next practice. We are also extremely grateful for coach Shane and the one on one practice sessions. His temperament and joy, along with his guitar knowledge helped our son feel confident and excited to practice and participate to his fullest potential. We highly recommend SOR!

I started at School of Rock Watertown three years ago as I wanted to learn the bass guitar properly it was close to my home. When I started I was paired with an instructor who was good and patient as I was a true beginner, over the next year I felt confident in what I was learning and was able to pick up things on my own easier. Unfortunately that instructor moved on from the job and I was then paired up with another bass instructor who was different than the first and had more focus on learning a full song and breaking it down in sections plus he was in a band himself and talked about different valuable things regarding not only the instrument itself but other aspects of playing the bass while practicing in a way to be able to play with other people in hopes of playing out live. A bittersweet moment as this instructor's own band was making waves in the local industry and their whole band moved out of state at the same time I had a procedure I had to deal with so taking a break for the time worked out.
After I was fully healed I was itching to get back as I was practicing on my own for a few months and playing with a drummer and trying to get my own band going I decided I needed to get back to lessons so I went back to School of Rock Watertown with the hopes of not only taking lessons but wanted to join the School of Rock adult band which I was able to. I was paired with a active gigging instructor who has transformed my ability beyond where I thought I would be and gaining the confidence not only playing with others in a band setting but excelling in doing so. Don't get me wrong it is a lot of hard work and lots of practicing out side of the once a week lessons and once a week band rehearsals but it is so worth it I was able to play my first ever live show and did so without fear of anything going wrong is a good feeling. Now going into my third season of the adult band as well being a part of a local all original band of which I didn't think was a possibility and would not have happened without the lessons and support of not only the School of Rock instructor but the whole School of Rock staff and community. I look forward to each week and the other people I play with here and growing friendships.
Knowledgeable and passionate teachers make all the difference! My kid can pursue his passion and keep learning in this awesome environment.
The programs are vey focused based on every kids capability and potential . Feedback received after private session are helpful for kids to work on after classes ! Instructors and staff are great !

The shows
I love that the kids are immersed into group practices, leading up to on stage performance, right from the start. It’s such a huge confidence booster! And grouping kids of all ages together is so awesome because everyone supports each other & more experienced kids mentor the newer ones. There’s no competition, just peer support. So amazing!
I like how their method simultaneously has students learning a new instrument or vocals and playing in a band. This method keeps the kids interested. My child has had great instructors for private lessons and band and has also made many new friends. It has taught stage presence and built confidence. Now, my kid knows songs from different decades and genres, and I find that pretty cool.
Care for the students and customizing the choice of songs to make it interesting for them to want to learn music
Great program, great teachers, awesome performance opportunities, very supportive environment, opportunities to learn multiple instruments, friendly staff. My child has learned a lot at School of Rock and continues to get more and more used to being on stage.

Our kids have been a part of School of Rock San Jose since they opened 10 years ago. They both have developed confidence in their abilities that will carry them into all they do in their future. They have learned public speaking skills and are confident performing in front of hundreds (or more) people. School of Rock encourages their students to find their own voices, and the students are allowed to experiment with different instruments, finding what they love most. They have fun and make friends. Plus we get to listen to great music. :)
I think it’s great my kiddo has a place outside of school to make friends and interact with adults with a common interest. Everyone knows her name and she has a chance to both be challenged and to feel strong and competent.
Varied, fun, and great for building skills and confidence. And the shows are a blast!!

My son loves taking piano at School of Rock. The instructors keep him engaged and he enjoys learning rock music rather than classical.
Teacher and staff are very friendly and helpful. I also like that the program uses helpful technology through the website and app to help learn and practice the curriculum, see my upcoming lesson schedule, grade and submit exercises, get feedback from the teacher, and manage my account. This is much better than traditional private lessons.
I can’t say enough of good things about SOR! Elliot at the front desk is extremly helpful and very patient with answering all of my questions and making changes to the schedule. My son Santino loves going to his Little Wing class with Miss Gina. It’s so nice to see how patient and caring Miss Gina is with her class. You can tell all the students truly enjoy going to her class. I’m excited to see how much Santino progresses as he continues his music journey at SOR!

Love School of Rock! The Adult Program is amazing, excellent staff, and they create a great sense of community.
