I love that it is not crowded midday. Always a splendid experience for members although not optimal for the Y.
Staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I like the classes I take there. I take exercise classes with Laurie, Ellie and Brianna.
My only complaint is that the floors are frequently filthy and we do a lot of different exercises on the floor.
The awesome gym equipment with plenty of free weights and cardio machines, access to an outdoor pool and tennis/pickleball courts, and the friendly faces I see at the YMCA.
Very upset that outdoor spinning classes at the Cage at America Tobacco were taken indoors. We had a large crowd of happy riders and an instructor that wanted to stay outdoors. Everyone was happy the past 2 years. Who wants to spin 2 feet from the next rider?
I only joined about a month ago, but I really like the fact that there are clay tennis courts. I also like personal trainer that I am using currently. This is very convenient to me and equipment in the white area seems to be complete in a small space.

First time using the facility. It is clean, small and intimate, it has what you need to get a decent workout.
The studio is quiet and I love being there at dusk and dawn watching the light through the trees. Clean facility and very friendly staff. My only concern is the pool is closed to members even before Labor Day and that should be rectified. The pool was upgraded with a heater for swimming in the winter and ymca members cannot use it. This is very frustrating.

It’s a smaller facility but has a nice group fitness room, an adequate workout area and during the summer an excellent outdoor lap pool. The staff is friendly and helpful
Like all Durham Ys, it's a friendly & welcoming place. Ellie's Tuesday evening class is great, but there's a real shortage of 8lb. hand weights which are in demand for this class. The round disc weights don't work well for the exercises in this class.
I'm looking forward to trying the outdoor pool.
One other issue I have: it's easy to miss the turn off Roxboro St. into the parking lot, Hard to see the sign for the parking lot until it's almost too late to turn. I wonder if you could put an additional sign in the median.

I like the outdoor pool in the summer. I also like the yoga classes but they conflict with other similar classes as other locations. I like the gentle yoga classes and it would be nice if they were spread out at the various locations at different times. For example the Yin class at HVF on Tuesdays is the same morning as Thrive at downtown, so I end up having to pick one or the other. I'm sure there are reasons for this and it works best with instructor schedules, but since you are asking for feedback, thought I'd share! :-)
We joined initially for the swim lessons, but knew we would make use of the tennis courts as well. We have been so pleasantly surprised by all of the facilities, staff and benefits. We look forward to visiting much more in 2024.
The HVF YMCA is convenient. I can work out while my daughter is swimming with YOTA. It is also 5-7 minutes from my home.
The pool and tennis courts are great.
Staff are very friendly. Enjoy the group classes. They are scheduled at convenient times for me.
