We’ve visited the Chatham YMCA twice now, and both experiences have been fantastic. It’s a beautiful, spacious facility, and the surrounding area looks like it’s going to be an equally beautiful community as it continues to develop.
What has impressed us most, though, is the staff. Everyone has been incredibly friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. Brian, Julia, Libby, Brooke, and the others we’ve interacted with have been phenomenal with my 10 year old twins and have really made them feel comfortable and excited to be there.
In fact, after our first visit, the kids were so determined to come back that we returned the very next day. During our first visit, my daughter successfully earned her black swim band, which was a genuine moment of accomplishment for her. She was incredibly proud of herself, and I really appreciated the encouragement and support she received from the staff along the way.
Both kids have also commented on how large and impressive the facility is; they genuinely think this place is great. After only two visits, the Chatham YMCA has already made quite an impression on our family. Beautiful facility, wonderful people, and a really positive environment for kids. We’ll definitely be back.

Great classes. Great youth programs (soccer, swim team, basketball).
Would appreciate if 915 weekday workout class start times could be pushed to 930 so mothers can attend after dropping kids off at preschool at 9 am.

My kids have been coming here for years and really enjoy it.
The facility is well-equipped and well-staffed. Its fees are competitive. The staff members are all friendly, competent, and concerned that members have good experiences.

Love the counselors!! They bring an insane amount of energy and positivity and are amazing role models!! I know my kids are safe once I send them to camp.
Exceptionally nice and full-featured facility. I only use the fitness center's treadmills and weight machines being older, but there are plenty there who use free weights and the other aerobic equipment. I also see many in the two pools each day (might have to take advantage of those this month), and there are usually some kids and even adults shooting baskets on the indoor courts. I expect that there must be some B-ball league play too. If not, there should be.
For me as an older person on a budget, the Y is great since it's only about 10 miles from my home in N. Chatham, and it's free, which I appreciate since I do have to watch expenses.

I love all of the options for group exercise classes. This is why I left my previous gym. All of the staff is friendly and welcoming. The instructors are awesome!!
I just joined yesterday so I haven't had the chance to enjoy everything that is offered. I'm looking forward to the classes and using the exercise equipment.

Convenient location and schedule. Caring counselors/teachers.
Allowing my son to be able to have a fun experience to be excited to tell me about when he gets home. They are patient with him and the amount of energy he has and able to work with him when he isn’t having the best day. I appreciate the counselors that were in charge of the Pittsboro area for everything that they did.
My child has had an absolute blast so far! The counselors are so kind. Drop off and pick up is a breeze! !

My son was little uncomfortable at first, but by the end of the week, he seemed really content with your program. Going to the pool each day was great!
My daughter has loved the program and all the activities. She is going into Kindergarten so having a little independence at camp has been wonderful for her!

I love the array of exercise classes, and the many time slots. All of the staff are warm and welcoming.
From the moment we checking to leaving the exercise complete everyone so friendly . The classici attend the exercise group l leader is amazing in teaching. Us . She is always smiling and makes class fun . The staff always informed us when asking question regarding our needs . Whole building with equipment and pool makes a great place to stay fit . Fantastic experience..
I love the classes the most. I do think more need to be added, especially in the summer mornings. There has been days that I haven't been able to get into any class and that is so sad. And after work hours during the school year. All staff members are so nice and knowledgeable. I appreciate all of them.
I joined the Salley's YMCA when I was 8 years old, and it became such an important part of my life. I went to summer camp every year, attended child care, and spent countless hours at the gym with my mom. As I got older, I became a camp counselor at 17 and then worked in child care at 18. I truly grew up with the YMCA, and it helped shape the person I am today.
The Chatham County YMCA gives me that same feeling. It reminds me of the Salley's YMCA and the mission I grew up with: "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all." That mission isn't just a statement to me—it's something I experienced firsthand throughout my childhood.
My hope is that the Chatham County YMCA will give me, and one day my children, the same lifelong memories, friendships, and sense of community that I was fortunate enough to have growing up. There's something special about a place that becomes part of your story, and I hope this YMCA becomes part of theirs, too.
