We love our YMCA after school program! The counselors are so friendly, and they make my little one feel very safe and well cared for. I can’t imagine doing anything else for aftercare!!

My kindergartener LOVES aftercare. She enjoys the time to play with friends and work on her homework. The lead counselor, Alex, is very kind and helpful and makes sure the kids are well looked after. We are very happy we chose YMCA aftercare.

Good aftercare offering, convenient because it is in the same school
The time and location are very convenient. The price is doable. The workers are very nice; our kids like them, and we like that they have consistent supervision by the same people.
The only thing somewhat confusing were the introduction of fundraisers this year. I'm fine with fundraisers, but we didn't get enough info.
For example, the movie night... Were parents invited? Our kids said that if you paid, you got popcorn and a movie, but the kids that don't pay also get the movie. So they just don't get popcorn? And maybe cotton candy?
There was one for pretzels. We didn't take part, because we weren't sure how it worked. How would YMCA know what days to bring them, since our kids aren't there every day? What time would they be served, because sometimes we pick our kids up early.
Keep doing them, but please try to make the information clearer.
Convenience
hope that every child can be treated fairly and given equal attention. Some children are naturally more outgoing, while others are quieter or more introverted. For those quieter children, it can sometimes be harder for them to speak up or express their feelings.
It would mean a lot if teachers could take a little extra time to patiently listen to these children and encourage them to share their thoughts. Feeling heard and supported can make a big difference in their confidence and overall experience in the program.
