The programming and classes are deep, rich and amazing.
But, what makes the whole experience really successful for both my wife and me is the staff. You can have a ton of classes, but the instructors and trainers are what make it work. Major shout-out to Elisha Wellman, my personal trainer; she’s absolutely, absolutely amazing. I just don’t have enough superlatives to describe what a great experience it’s been working with her for the last 18 months. Another major shout-out to our spin trainers, Deb and Jen. They are both absolutely. the. best. Both so professional; both so motivating; and both so fun.

The people at the front desk are great. They are very helpful and make the sign in experience easy. I also like the Pickleball opportunities and would like to see the intermediate schedule expanded to include weekends. I really enjoy playing PB at the Y and the workout area as well. y wife loves the swimming pool. We both wish there was a hot tub available too. That woild be our suggestion to improve our experience at the Y. Thanks!

As a former Spin instructor, I enjoy your indoor cycling classes. In fact, I have Bike #3 to thank for my 20 pound weight loss. All of the instructors, Jenn, Deb, and Nathan have been great, but Jenn’s teaching style seems most aligned with the was I was taught by Spinning. I’ve also been impressed with the family friendly atmosphere of the entire facility. The Aqua Zumba with Shannon is a hoot. Finally, the weight room and cardio areas are very well outfitted. I’ve been to other gyms filled with “beautiful people” who make you feel like an outsider. Desert Foothills is very family friendly and welcoming. Thank you, DF YMCA!!!
Very clean, new lockers for the males. I use the elliptical three days each week. Never had a problem getting a machine. Never had a problem with opening hours. Always found time to get my exercise completed. Staff is the best.

Great fitness center. My only complaints are that 90% of people do not wipe down equipment and enforcement is zero.

I am very happy with the classes and the workout machines.
There are however, two improvements that I believe would enhance the experience and be more inviting for potential new members.
One would be to expand the classroom area for yoga classes. I would love to join the yoga classes but have seen the limited space which I think prevents new participants (like me) from attending. I feel guilty taking the space from someone who has been attending for years. It would be much more inviting (and perhaps healthier!) if there was a more generous sized space for that particular class.
Could the class area be increased by utilizing the gym space for an allotted time?
It would seem to be a better use of the space for a larger group of people.
I would also like to see someone monitor the workout area during the afternoons when the students are present. Often times they are on their phones, texting, etc. instead of actually using the machines. It's very frustrating for those that have limited time to spend at the Y.
