Friendly and nice machines
It has kept the right balance between fun and competition for my 7-year old. We will want to ramp up the competitive nature of sports down the road, but as an introduction to multiple sports, the balance has been ideal.
If you want your young child to learn the (a) sport and sportsmanship the Y is a good place to begin.

I enjoy how accessible it is for kids of all levels. Beginners and advanced can play cohesively and everyone gets a fair amount of playing time. I enjoy how the league is set up as a learning experience rather than a solely competitive experience.
The refs are fantastic! The rules per grade level are very fair and helps the kids learn and grow each winter season. The kids have been set up to gain confidence each game and season. My kids have been playing for years with YMCA, and will continue! Also, Delma has been great answering any questions I have had in all the seasons we have played, and in such a timely manner! The people are so friendly and everyone is so positive. The equipment is the latest available. The open hours are perfect. The people who work there are so helpful and positive. It's the best place ever.
