I like that it is close to my house, there are 3 opportunities each week to take Body Combat, and that I can use the other YMCA facilities for free if I want to swim indoors or take a Body Combat class on another day of the week.
I do wish that our pool stayed open longer into the fall. I'd really like to be able to do lap swim at Richardson rather than having to drive to Lake Highlands. I also wish that there were weekend times for pickleball since the current times do not work well for working adults.
The Richardson Y sports directors are great! It seems like a difficult job dealing with hundreds of kids and parents and they are always helpful and responsive.
I think that you have a GEM in Josh for refereeing basketball. He did a really good job for the most part refereeing to the players levels (i.e if you could tell the kid was new to the sport giving a bit of grace before calling traveling). He also did a really good job of teaching the kids. For example if he had call a reach in foul for an egregious reach in he would explain why he called what he called, how to correct the mistake if it kept happening and then find something positive in the kids actions like "I like effort man". This season they did a pretty good job of keeping the kids safe, teaching them, and having a lot of fun.
To me it provides the quintessential summer camp experience for kids who aren't quite ready or just want an alternative to overnight camps. I like that it gave my son experiences with activities he wouldn't normally get to do.
Best experience that my son needed and will definitely repeat every summer. Wish I knew about it before so he could have done it all summer
I really appreciate your refs. I don't know his name but there is a young ref (with colorful baller shoes - light blue, etc) who always has a great attitude and teaches the boys the rules, the violation etc but still encourages them. My son loves the game and plays PSA on opposite seasons of YMCA and the refs there are not going to be nice - which i understand that's not what they need to do- but they don't help control the games either. At PSA last season we had a coach cussing and always standing inside the court during the games. The refs wouldn't tell him to cool it or warn him about his behavior. It ended up in a coach vs. coach smack talking because that coach was just so mouthy and our players kept freaking out every time they heard a curse word from that coach.
My sons love playoff sports for the YMCA Richardson. They really care about the boys and always encourages them to be great! Would definitely recommend.

We had a small class so that helped with our child getting enough attention.
I am a senior adult and the nicest people go to the Y. I have made so many friends there and look forward to going there.
The value for the cost is excellent! The counselors were kind and organized. My son had a great time and would like to do it again- he loved the archery and various activities.
Front office people are helpful and courteous.
I like Raquet ball and Pickle ball facility.
Instructors are patient and show interest in helping the kids learn to swim.

It was clean and quiet. Plenty of machines for my use. And the front desk were welcoming and friendly.

was soo kind and welcoming!
I Love seeing people thriving in this environment, including all the children involved; they will forever remember the good times at the YMCA.
