I've never been one to join groups.I'm always friendly with people in stores etc but at the Y I found a place to form friendships. The large number of different programs ,classes, gyms, pool etc mean a very diverse membership. As an older person with arthritis the pool and hot tub are life savers . For many elderly loneliness is an issue , the Y is a place without any pressures you might feel at church or with family. You can tell a lot about a business ,hospital or office by employees . At the Y everyone is happy, a sign of a great place to work that reflects the experience for members. I can't think of a more positive org for the community . My only regret is not joining 60yrs ago.
Place is very well run. Love our ymca
It's compassionate.
Variety of equipment
Pool
There is so much to offer at this location!!
Great facility - been a member since 2005. Great programs for kids/adults, (my grandkids love the classes). Equipment in nice shape, friendly staff and responsive management.
Men's locker room could use a refresh - doors, lockers, steam room and showers. Showing it's age.....
Keep up the good work - you're an asset to the community.
Always a pleasure. Well maintained and friendly staff.
I appreciate the diligence with which staff works to fulfill the huge mission of the Y. While things are not always perfect, I totally recognize it's no easy task to manage so many different threads, all of which are pretty essential to the overall mission. I endlessly thank the folks who make it all happen. The Y is people working together to make a better community.
The facility is pretty nice. There is a large selection of classes offered iin the mornings. The staff are helpful.
Friendly staff and nice facilities. Lots of options, from classes and exercise equipment to the pool and badminton courts.
I love the group exercise classes. There are lots of choices--something for everyone.
Convenient, friendly, lots of options
Terri is a great instructor. What I don’t like the fact that you do not ban the man who threatened staff from the Y. Not only are you putting staff and members at risk you are putting your daycare children at risk.
I love that there is such diversity there every time I walk through. There is literally something for everyone. In my family, we take advantage of the fitness center, but mainly in the offerings for people with disabilities. From going to Camp Evergreen with a 1:1 aide to the YPals and other programs, it has been a wonderful thing for my family to have the Y as a resource for my disabled son. Thank you!
great orientation for the egym!
Our family primarily uses the YMCA for the programs offered to children with special needs. The program staff are always cheerful and welcoming and they genuinely care about the children in these programs.
I have met so many, interesting people, made some great friends, and really liked the leadership.
Many different activities.
I’ve met very nice people through the Y & some exceptional instructors, esp Terri Tallman.
We love the Y
Great staff great classes for adults and kids
Just a great facility
The space is always clean, the staff is friendly, the equipment is nice, and there is so much variety with fitness classes and offerings.
I like the group fitness classes, the therapy pool classes and the equipment room
I love the fitness classes! It's great that so many are online and I can do them at home when I can't get into the gym!
Programs, childcare, friendliness of employees
Not too crowded
Classes, sense of community.
The Y at Hal Welsh is such a positive place , not only to work out, but to socialise at and make new friends. I love how the Y gives back to the Central New York community through supporting much needed services: I had the opportunity to volunteer with other members and YMCA staff to give back to other nonprofits, such as, The Salvation Army, and Clear Path for Veterans. There is a great camp program at Camp Evergreen, art for kids at Hal Welsh; Active Older Adult programs, and much, much more. I found my home at Hal Welsh after coming off of Active Duty in the military- where I found joy in volunteering and giving back.
Only problem is no track, excellent otherwise.
Everything,
Loved our first parent child swim class. Had a blast.
Don’t like that is was difficult to find an opening. I had been trying off and on for 6 months.

Staff and equipment.
