Member Testimonials
Most everything - swim, strength training, pilates/yoga.
Years ago, I actually enjoyed the belly dance class at Santa Teresa and the ballroom dance class at Central.
Not much into programs or activities but use the weights, treadmills, and the pool.

I am a 20yr + member. My needs have changed over the years, but the Y has always had programs and classes to meet my needs. Staff is topnotch, and I have made many new friends over the years.

We love the aqua fitness classes!
Family friendly, welcoming, variety,
So many classes to choose from early morning, morning and evening. I love pound, TRX, pilates, cycle-sculpt, bodyflow... and the eGym and fitness center is always there in between. I especially love that there is also a philanthropic side to the Y, helping families and children "in my back yard"!
Love all the variety of activities and classes! So glad that there are many classes to choose from and the times works best for me.
For my doctor and friend.
The Aqua class is excellent and the senior fit class is excellent.
There is something for every age group and the gym is up to date on all the equipment.
I like the circuit training machines and the treadmills. I have started to go to water fitness class. It was hard for me to understand the instructor because the sound system wasn’t very good.
The recent changes to the programs at the SV YMCA I usually visit are very positive. For instance, Leroy has brought new offerings; I attended the recent six-week women's training course taught by a wonderful trainer, Liz Lange, and the sound healing event. I appreciate that Leroy solicits input and includes member feedback to improve programs and enhance members' experiences.
When I joined the YMCA almost a year ago and asked about small group training sessions (based on the description of offerings listed on the Website), I was disappointed to learn there was no such option. Leroy made a point of supervising and participating in the classes/activities and meeting many of the members when he came on board; he took the time to learn about my fitness goals, health concerns, limitations and interest in training and he offered to provide a one-on-one training session with me to safely guide me through exercises. This session was such a good experience because I increased my self-efficacy and confidence (to work out safely as I recover from an injury), and it encouraged me to participate in more YMCA classes and programs. As a result of Leroy's kind efforts, I look forward to enrolling in a small group training program to reach my fitness goals. ;-)
They are reasonably priced and enjoyable for children. The swimming pool and surrounding area is well kept up.
I feel like I am very welcome at the Y.
