Great Teacher = Joyce
Nice people in class.
I like the large number of Group Exercise classes with a variety of great instructors and several different time slots for the classes that I'm interested in, namely Les Mills Body Pump, Body Combat, and CORE. The room with the kicking/ punching bags and equipment to practice martial arts is another feature that makes El Camino YMCA stand out from other local YMCAs.
Love the community of great people, love going there because I feel "at home."
Facilities, and I can get to a machine I need without waiting.
Lots of class choices and egym
Overall this is a pretty good YMCA and the classes and instructors are good.
Suggestion - Split Classes in age range like below 50 and above 50. For example if I need to attend a functional fitness class mostly it is always all elderly people and sure the pace of class is according to them.
It's not too crowded in the weight room, there are many people there that I know (late highschool and early college students), and the basketball courts (which are also not too crowded).
The new squat rack feels cheap, but I enjoy working out with the rest of the equipment.
They are family friendly. They are fun while at the same time the instructors are great and motivational! They are greT workouts and there is a lot of variety
The swim lessons were very good. The instructor engaged the students and made it fun. I do think 4 students is too many -- a maximum of 3 would be better. If it's a matter of accounting, I would actually pay more to have only 3 students in the class. If there are going to be 4 students, then the lessons should be a full hour.
I really like the aqua fitness (water aerobics) classes at the El Camino outdoor pool. If been coming to these classes for quite a while now.
Excellent instructors, & plenty of room to move, even when classes are fairly full!
The facilities are also very nice & well maintained.
It is OFTEN hard to park tho - that lot fills up fast (& I think folks who are not supposed to park there have started doing so, it's gotten much worse in the past 6 months)
The low coach/ student ratio for young toddlers is great. Coaches are friendly, patient, gentle and fully engaged in keeping young toddlers interested in learning swim skills.
Like the kiddo pool, which keep young toddlers safe and more focused.
Weight and cardio stations, and pool.
Childcare, pool, good classes to attend. Clean and nice facility
I use only the exercise room equipment. Like it fine.
eGym & all the other weight systems available. Nobody trying to up-sell me on additional services. Lots of older people like me.
Lots of fitness classes!
Drop in classes. Lots of choices. Great instructors.
Friendly instructors and great community
Fun & friendly environment
I like the gym when not mobbed
The Y provides many opportunities for members who want to improve their health. It's a friendly, welcoming environment to be in. We have taken a few classes but could sign up for more. It's convenient as we live close by. We also appreciate the partnership with other Y's in the country. We have gone to a Y back east when we regularly visit family. We greatly appreciate the ability to workout when we are away from our local Y!
I enjoy all the Les Mills programing. The hiking club is an awesome activity.
The Water Aerobics
I love the group exercise classes. Delcy's classes are the main reason I am a Y member!
The instructors are great
Their appeal to many different demographic segments of the membership. Congeniality and helpfulness of the staff.
I love everything about the Y. I do admit that I am trying to get used to the Y being filled with people again. It is getting busier. However, I would like to ask if there could be more education around cell phone use on the floor and in the weight area. There seems to be a long wait for the machines because people are scrolling on their social media in between their sets. This past weekend I had to remind a young patron that we share the machines "gym etiquette" and we can work in between sets, as I had only one to do while he walked away. He was fine with complying.

JB is a great personal trainer! He knows how to describe the proper movements as well as why you are doing them!
