Great coaches, great team spirit
I like how they are open to anyone and are very good with coordinating friends on same team. Makes a big difference when have friends where they enjoy going and being there.
One thing that needs to be worked on is signing up. The portal is awful and so many people complain about it.and end up not signing up out of frustration or the use of time. Also can't register over the phone and take payment. This needs to change as it's 2021!!!! We are busy with kids and making a stop to fill out a form is not necessary. Thanks
The people have been nice
I use the pool. I don't like when I arrive at 5:30 a.m. only to find out the pool is closed. This has happened more than once
Swim
I appreciate your availability during winter cold and snow. I'm a divorced father and have my children very rarely. Having the pool or other activities available during the winter months is greatly appreciated. It gives me a chance to have bonding activities with my kids. In addition it give me a local gym to keep up my own fitness. Thanks so much!
Early programs for older people like Low impact aerobics, deep water aerobics, water walking. Locker rooms are clean,
I swim and do the machines and know all the people I see regularly! Makes workout more fun!
Variety of classes
Zumba, don’t like when u have an established class you change day and time.
I really enjoy the group exercise programs. I realize COVID 19 has put a crimp in the program but hope for a return to a fuller schedule and more offerings.
Love being able to play pickleball at the Y. And I enjoy the muscle and movement class. People are so friendly at the Y. There are more classes I would like to try that are not too strenuous and would love to do some free time exercises in the pool but do not care for the dressing room because it’s hard to change into dry clothing with the floor all wet and no chair to sit to put dry shoes on. Don’t want to sound like complaining, because I love the SOUTHWEST YMCA and the people. I thank God every time I go to the YMCA, it’s nice to be around people.
I love the pool and the pool hours.
But cleaning could be better in the pool and especially on the pool deck.
Also please clean & santitize the handrailing by the steps. I use a wet wipe so I keep germs off my hands but the wipe is always very dirty when I get to the bottom of the steps.
There's a program for everyone and every level of exercise

I really enjoyed the barbell pump that Jackie W at the SW Y taught but it was replaced with body pump. There are several of the exercises in the new program that I’m not able to do.
I want to stay strong in my seniors years so I do the ones I can do and do other exercises during the ones that I can’t.

No matter what skill level, kids are welcome to try a new sport without the pressure of having to immediately be the best. I’ve always enrolled my boys in sports at the Y because of the time the coaches spend to help all kids strive to be their own personal best.
