I like the variety of options for exercise. Recently had knee replacement and had to cut back on some of the more vigorous aerobic activities, but other options were available until I’m healed enough to return to more intense activities.
Also, the staff and other members are quite friendly.

I have only been to a few lessons in the Aqua Fit class but they are well suited to my schedule (daytime) and my needs (moderate exercise in the water for strength and stamina). I hope to build to doing laps.

I have had a great experience with the South Oakland Y. Marla (a personal trainer) is a standout. She is lovely to work with: personable, understanding, and operating at the highest levels of competency. Working with her bolsters a more positive opinion of the Y.

I LOVE THE EXERCISE MACHINES THAT YOU USE ONE AFTER THE OTHER GREAT WAY TO EXERCISE I JUST WISH THEY HAD A HOT TUB I FIND THE POOL IS NOT FOR ME TOO CROWDED AND A LITTLE COLD THE DRY HEAT IS TOO HOT FOR ME OTHER THEN THAT I LOVE IT
It a family setting and very organized. Many classes from young to old.
I like the fact that I see All ages at the YMCA, everyone trying to improve their health through exercise and socialization. As a Senior, I also love seeing the small children participating in activities, whether it is swimming, classes, or even the nursery!
The only thing I noticed is that you have very limited space for the Friday Activities for Older Adults with Lynda Scott.
She is a very popular instructor and that space we were in on Friday was too small.
And enrolling every week is problematic.
Everyone is helpful and knowledgable.
Great environment. Feels safe and inclusive and all age groups represented. Facility is in great shape and close to home so I will be less apt to skip workouts. Love the facility too and how well it's run.
I participate in the Active Older Adults exercise class at the South Oakland branch and I am very happy with it. The class is challenging yet very appropriate for our age group. The only thing I would add to improve the class is to have a larger space or a smaller class
