The Y is a great place to become more fit. I am learning Tai Chi. It is a new and interesting activity for me. I used the treadmill. The equipment is new.

In contrast to another Y that I used to belong to (peace be upon it), you promote your programs well enough so that you get adequate attendance and don't cancel everything all the time. You're doing your job.

I truly like the facility because I can get my workout in quite easily without waiting for machines or equipment. I usually come in later in the morning and finish before noon. The parking is great since it is only for the members unlike some other facilities that are in strip malls and parking is shared with everyone . The building is immaculate and from what I can see the members are all careful to wipe down everything after using it. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful should you forget your pass. They will look you up and log you in and out. They greet you when you enter the building (unless they are helping another member) and say good-bye when you leave
I have worked with two personal trainers and both were excellent. I did not have much knowledge of the machines and which types of exercises were right for my goals. I am now quite confident on what I need to do to keep myself fit, balanced and strong. The first trainer was Carlene Hetland, prior to COVID, who taught me basics and then moved on to more involved workouts. I learned so much from her.
My second trainer. Sarah Ayotte, refreshed my basics and helped me get back into workout after COVID and also expanded on my basic knowledge. I look forward to doing more training with her in 2022. She is an excellent trainer and I know I will be able to learn a lot more. She is very conscientious and will explain over again when you ask. She has worked very well with me, a senior citizen. She is great about answering questions and is very pleasant to work with.
Steve is always friendly and I feel he has done a great job making it a desirable environment. The addition of new equipment and the cleanliness of the building makes Macomb YMCA the only place where I want to go to work out. Thank you to all the staff!
