Love the instructors and the attention they give to each student in the class. They are very flexible and knowledgeable
My sons learned to swim at the YMCA with Lori Tout when they were very young. She was an excellent instructor for them. My oldest son is now a lifeguard at the Boll family Y. He loves his job and is very comfortable working there. The Y has been like a home away from home for our family.
Tai Chi and the appropriate mirrored room where the class is held.
The facility is quite lovely.
The only Y in the city; which is greatly appreciated.
The instructors were very professional and encouraging. They fostered camaraderie and team spirit with their students.
My instructor was amazing and she was very kind and patient. Even in her patience she was still able to push us accordingly. I learned so much in a group setting that I never learned before
I likes the atmosphere
Friendly employees. Clean facility.
If you live downtown and you are a senior citizen-do yourself a big favor and join both silver sneakers and the Boll Family YMCA at once. It has gentle movement water aerobics in warm water that will give your joints the best and most comfortable stretch in town. Do yourself a favor and stay limber and strong by joining the Y today!!
It’s a Nice n Clean environment, the ppl there r soo professional too , my sisters n i we really love going there n we r all seniors too , our Swim instructor Marie is the Best , the worst part of it is there's no Handicapp parking n there should b n the Front as well as the rear entrance to the building , but the Y is a great place to visit !!
We were extremely pleased with the professionalism of the staff at this location and the life guards and swim coaches I was able to get kids swim kessons from ages 4-13 5 kids all for less than 350.00 way cheaper than aqua tots I was also able to be accommodated on short notice when my pyjer swing class for another program cancled last minute the only con is parking expensive to park for lessons I was never charged leas than $10 and $20 plus on game or concert days for downtown because there is no parking that ymca owns or has discounted rates for the facilities are beautiful detroit is beautiful I love the location minus the parking
I love the swimming classes. However, I am strongly considering cancelling my membership do to the lack of availability of the lap pool. Before and after work are too crowded and challenging to get a lane.
It's nice that the lap pool is open until 1 on Mondays and Fridays but 10am is too early to close on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the weekends can be crowded with the swim classes requiring extra lanes to be closed.
Moreover, the lap pool doesn't open during the week until 6:30am. It would be nice if the pool opened at 6am with the gym time. Especially since the meters don't allow you to pay until 7am. 06:30am makes it difficult to swim and pay the meter making us more susceptible to get a ticket and forcing more people to come at 7am.
The membership being almost $90 and we are paying for parking there should be more expansion of the lap pool times.
I love the Y, and appreciate the nonprofit mission. The Boll is a great facility and the classes are fun.
I loved the swim classes. My daughter's and myself all made much progress in the classes. The only thing I didn't like was that sometimes my daughter's classes would end early and/or start late. Other than that it was a great experience. The instructors were fun and thorough.
First, the location for our family was excellent. Living in the city has its challenges for finding quality daycamp programs that are close to home.
Second, the children were kept busy doing a variety of physical activities. My child needs to be active and the camp gave her the opportunity to play and have fun.
Third and most importantly, the staff was responsive, related well to the children, and seemed to enjoy themselves as much as the campers did.
My only suggestion would be to offer swimming lessons to the campers on days that they swim. It could be done once a week instead of at each swimming session. It would be a good opportunity for the campers to either learn or improve on their swimming skills.
Excellent facility and staff
My favorite aspect about Y camp has been the exposure to new experiences for my son. He met new people and tried so many things he has never done before. He had such a strong connection with other campers and staff that he wants them all to come to his birthday party.
My son is a life guard at the ymca Michael white and he does such a great job .love u son
Friendly people both in classes and the staff. A very welcoming place
Love classes I’ve taken from two instructors (James and Cheryl). The facility is beautiful and all staff are friendly and professional.
The instructors are great! The staff is great! The facility is wonderful!!!!
I've been using the Y for almost 6 months now and really enjoy it! The class schedule meets my needs and the instructors keep me coming back. The entire facility is clean and I can't see myself using another gym for the foreseeable future. Thank you for all that you do!
My girls loved all the different opportunities like swimming, rock climbing, field trips, exploring the city, arts & crafts. But they loved their camp friends most of all!
Great !! Love it here
The staff and diversity of members
I love my Silver Sneakers classes. The instructors are just the best, and my classmates are so much fun!
The facility and overall YMCA experience
My children likes the play too every basketball event and the mountain climber!
Clean, great staff, beautiful facility, awesome senior exercise.
I'm new to this Y and am very happy. Taking the beginners swim class, and the instructor is great. Takes his time with each of us, and most importantly, gives each of us a complete sense of safety. Signing up this week for the next class.

Miss Alex was a great instructor. She made each kid feel engaged and included.
