I absolutely love the full day nature program of children’s Island. It’s very difficult to find anything else like it in the general Boston/North Shore area. The camp and counselors do such a great job creating fun, theme related activities for the kids to do all week. I Love that the kids are outside for the entire day and can swim and play outside and truly explore nature.
Engagement from the staff is so high. The kids feel so included in the group.
Nice facilities. Always value how friendly the staff are when I arrive. Nice people. Convenient.
However, I will say some of the changes to the main workout room are frustrating. Placement of the ropes machines are worse than before and I wish they went back to their prior placements. I'm not sure why they removed one of the platforms near the cages, which are used for deadlift. I also think more can be done around cleaning the benches in the weight room, and the mats in the turf area.
But overall I enjoy the Y and think the people who work there are committed and kind.
Clean, friendly, good variety of classes
My daughter loved Children’s Island so much!
The whole staff are great. My son loves his time on Chldrens Island.
Water slide at gymnastics. Friendly counselors.
Well maintained Facility overall...
Love the classes! Schedules are perfect for my summer activities.
Very professional, friendly and helpful
It’s a great place. The people are friendly, it’s clean and well maintained, and it’s closer to home!
Even with the new construction, it is the cleanest YMCA I have ever visited.
Excellent staff. Updated equipment. Very clean. Adult and child friendly.
Great place to have sport and meet people
we feel safe to leave the kids there, know that they are well entertained and get to meet new people (make new friends)
Love the classes, people I have met and the friendliness of the staff, especially John Dewitt at the front desk!
Children’s island camp
So many classes to choose from, clean and overall great place.
The high quality of Membership Services is impressive & helpful!
I love my trainer, heather. I alao like the mcahines and being able to connect them to my phone.
The camp has different activities that have my Kid super active. The staff are super friendly and helpful.
I love that both my kids have a specialty but get to do all the other camps things- crafts, swimming etc. they come home tired and happy!
Both Sadie and Anders have enjoyed their experience in gymnastics and sports camps this summer. We’ve been sending them both to the LVO Y camps for the last few summers and have been very satisfied with their experience. We were particularly happy to see the 8am-5pm hours resumed this year without additional registrations for these extended hours. The counselors and dedicated staff really make the experience so great and memorable for my kids.
We had a very kind, friendly, patient, helpful gentleman at the front desk. His first name was First name removed. He helped me enroll in the Cornerstone Program, and for my wife and I to become members of the Y. He also scheduled our fitness orientation visit. He answered all our questions.
We felt very welcome at the Y.
I like being able to take two different 30 minutes classes. You get a very good workout in different exercise areas.
daughter has a lot of fun, great experience, great activities without being too overscheduled or structured. allows a lot of time for the kids to just have fun outside
great atmosphere, great value, lots of options, good instructors, super clean, friendly, helpful staff
Great community resource.
Happy staff
Good programs
Suggestion for next year: ask camp counselors to car pool… parking is a nightmare, most especially Tuesdays! Have missed class because unable to find legal parking spot.
since you asked! I would have given a 10 except for what I observed at the outside pool. The young lifeguard girls are very busy chatting with each other, and in one case flirting with and in front of the male lifeguards. This female lifeguard did not sit in her seat, did not stay near her post, but stood in front of the boys at check-in chatting with them and NOT paying attention to swimmers at all.I was their age once and did my share of flirting and so on, but I was never in a position with the responsibility of saving lives. I watched in horror as this girl, over the course of maybe eight minutes had a sum total of probably two minutes of her attention focused away from the pool and on socializing. Even if my child could swim, I would not feel confident with these lifeguards, overseeing and protecting my child, or others. The pool is filthy

Children's Island Camp has been a wonderful experience. Our son Theo has learned so much, and has really bonded with his amazing counselors and all of the camp staff. We feel so lucky that it is available to us.
