This is our first year participating in the Jr. Cavs basketball league. I have seen growth in both my sons, one who plays in the 5-6 league and the 7-8 league. The coaches, specifically in the 5-6 league have done so much to make it a positive and inclusive experience for my son. Additionally, Hannah the director really tries to enforce the values of the YMCA and promote sportsmanship and skill-building over winning.
My son is in JR. Cavs and the program is run very well. I appreciate the emphasis on values that the kids are learning and the simple fun of learning and playing basketball. The entire theme and system is done very well.
Staff are awesome!
Hannah was super easy to work with. The courts were clean and there was plenty of space for the kids to run! We will definitely be back next season!
Kids love to go there, coaches are very friendly, kids love to learn something new,we love to find something new and interesting.
The basketball is extremely well run! My kids love it. It is fair and fun.
Jr. Cavs was very organized. Focused on age-appropriate skill development for all kids, but still allowed the kids to be competitive. Great program!
Really enjoyed the JR Cavs league :)
Our 5-year-old son has enjoyed participating in the Jr Cavs program. The coaches and refs do a wonderful job of teaching kids the skills and rules. We plan on signing up for the next season.
There is a good team of people working there and there are lots of opportunities to get involved in the overall activities of the branch.
The purposeful intent to teach the kids how to play as a team and learn a new sport. This is our first experience with a Y program and it is by far, the best sports experience we've had. Our other experiences with sports only focused on winning, winning, winning and I love that the Y emphasizes so much more than that.
Hannah and her team, including Maria, simply do an incredible job with the programs and the kids. I have seen them both in action during basketball and volleyball practices and games for my 6 and 11 year olds. They are great with kids. They are always encouraging them and providing positive feed back. I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with their energy, drive, and dedication to the kids who participate in events at the French Creek YMCA.
