Member Testimonials
Would like more senior activities ie yoga for over 55
Variety
My membership is at Carl Linder in Norwood which closed because of Covid and have had to go to Central. My rate has already increased since I've been going to the Central Y.
Can i get some kind of a rate cut when I renew my membership if I can't go back to Linder in Norwood ?
I'm currently 63 years old and not sure when my membership is up.
I like the new facility. Instructors are very good.
Variety on online & in-person classes; times are good, but I miss 6am classes...sometimes hard to work in the 7am & 8:15 am classses during the work week. I would also like an STT or Defend class on Sundays.
One other thing-at Cebtral Parkway YMCA, mask ovr the nose needs to be better enforced in studios & on the cardio equipment...I know it's difficult/even a bit scary to ask members to do so, but we all need to wear our masks correctly.
They're affordable and flexible to fit a variety of schedules
I love that there are lap lanes available at all hours!
Pool is in very nice condition for lap swimming. I especially like that its a saline pool. Locker rooms are clean and spacious.
It is a nicely-kept facility with newer, quality equipment and quite a few workout options. I haven’t participated in activities here since COVID.
I think everything about the Y is great... Except for the music player throughout the gym, which is absolutely terrible and needs a serious update.
Clean updated welcoming facilities. Feels like I'm at a country club.
I'm a swimmer. Great lifeguards, really nice pool.
Personal training
I like the ease of using exercise equipment. Staff is friendly as well as fwllow gym members.
Quality instructors. Following sound principles in workouts
Great teachers and very clean and safe environment .
I love the classes; especially Zumba and Yoga.
i joined the melrose ymca at the age of 14..i was actually there on opening day of the y...june vinegar was the director then...i was there for 31 years...i learned how to swim there and ed thomas was my teacher...i got married in 76 and my wife and 4 children learned how there also....ms. allison taught my children how to swim.. in the year 2000 i took a break and went to the friars clubs, they had longer hours than the y...they closed at 10 pm...but they closed in 2005 and thats when i came to the central y and i love this place....
Great instructors, a variety of classes and schedules that meet the needs of people who work during the day and retired people who have more flexible schedules.
Swimming and gym. Son plays basketball.
Available for many age groups
The programs and activities are very helpful for mind, body and spirit.
The camaraderie among the group exercisers, especially among the cyclists/spinners!
So many things offered, great equipment, friendly people.
I love the saline pool!
Friendly staff, and easy access to equipment.
Hoping that the Sauna/Steam Room will be open soon! Critical link to my work out/weight loss.
Working out and the people
Clean, updated.
right now I miss the way the Y was before the Pandemic. I liked the varity of classes and the sense of community that was unique to the Y as a gym. I also like the swimming and sports courts.

I love ymca
