I love the Catonsville Y. It's been great for me with all your offerings. Early on I got an email from Lenny Cheatham reaching out to me about the Y (probably because I gave it a low rating when I first started). I wrote back to him, but never heard back. This is what I wrote back on 1/30/20. Thank you.
Hello Lenny,
Thank you for reaching out to me. I have been utilizing the Y in Catonsville and Ellicott City about 3x a week since I joined around Thanksgiving. I have also gone to about 4 yoga classes, one Zumba, and attended all of the FitQuest sessions. I really love both facilities (Catonsville is closest to me, so I go there most often). I have found that the yoga classes, designated as level 1 or any level, are pretty intense. I've only been to one where the teacher asked what issues people had (shoulder, hip, etc.) and made accommodations. It was very much appreciated by all. I'd like to attend a real level 1 or beginner yoga class where the pace is a bit slower and the teacher provides more instruction for how to get into the poses. (I've been doing yoga for at least 20 years, but have slowed down a bit as I've gotten older... I'm 69 years young.) I still work full-time so I can't attend the chair yoga (and really that's not me, yet). Also, it would be nice to see some beginner or intro sessions (Yoga, Zumba, etc.) for newbies, and/or classes to strengthen poses so you're doing them the correct way. It would also be a nice touch to have a coach (during the FitQuest sessions?) explain the different types of classes and how to start attending as a newbie. My next quest is to attend swim yoga classes.
