An adult setting. Participants are friendly and diverse. Staff is very helpful, courteous and friendly. Classes/activities are diverse and generous in their offerings. Convenient to my home.
What I do not like:
It is a nightmare recently to get an appointment for the gym as there is only 1 lane that can be reserved for 30 mins.
There are a lot of participants who are very upset about this new change as it can get very crowded at certain times of the day and you cannot get to use the pool.
With 3 lanes open without reservations certain unnamed individuals take advantage by occupying lanes at times for 2 to 2 and a half hours for a swim not thinking of others who are not able to enter the pool as a result of their selfishness.
I am now thinking of just using another site where there is more ample availability of lanes forswimming if things continue this way.
I see families of all ages in the gym working to be healthy. The y promotes a safe environment and healthy lifestyle i truly appreciate
Great facility and friendly helpful staff. My request: keep the single occupant swim lane for solo swimmers, but maybe increase the use time from 30 min to 45 min.

Good cycling programs, clean facilities, helpful staff.
Outdoor body pump with Melody and Luckybis fantastic, as is cycling with Kristen and Guru.
One thing we do need is more of the lower and medium sized weights for the outdoor body pump classes. There are simply not enough of these smaller sized weights.

Nice variety at times I am likely to participate.
My closest YMCA is East Lake and I usually go there for all of my activities. However, I really like Lindsay's Pilates Class and her Stretch Class so I go to the Decatur YMCA on Thursdays. You have a lot of great classes, such as Tai Chi with Jean.

Staff, members and the overall atmosphere
Childcare! That makes going to the gym even doable for us. I haven’t explored the pool yet but it doesn’t seem to have a zero entry that would be good for little kids so I guess open swim for little kids isn’t a thing (with parents). It seems like a small pool so probably just for size that’s not possible. Besides that there seems to be plenty of equipment free when I’ve gone (during childcare hours) and it’s always been clean. I loved the free basketball clinic my daughter got to participate in last week- what a nice surprise! And she is playing soccer this fall with the Y and that has been good so far as well. Thank you!!
I love the group classes. The instructors are excellent. The locker room is very pleasant and clean. The only thing I'd like to request is that the group classes end as listed on the schedule. Usually they are supposed to last 45 minutes, but many times they go closer to an hour. That means if I am counting on a 45 minute class and have to leave on time, I miss the stretching afterward. I really would like the schedule to be adhered to. Thanks.
