Family atmosphere
The Y here is doing a great job. I work with a trainer, Chris Mendoza, and he really is great (my 5th PT, so a little perspective). I also appreciate that despite being in a building owned by the church, that the DR Semmes location isn’t overly promoting Christianity. As someone with a different belief system, it’s nice not to have too much Jesus at the gym, and I appreciate that.

Youth basketball program is excellent. The kids learn a lot, and they have so much fun getting to know the game!

It would be wonderful if you could permanently give Ava the Monday pool class. It is a great class since she has been teaching it.

Very inclusive with the kids and their level of experience. I would like to see that more with the parents, staff, coaches. Most adults seem to be veteran's of this program. So A new parent and child to the program feels left out in communication and routines. So I suggest to be more welcoming to those new to the program and don't assume that they know how things work. Treat every season as a brand new season. Thank you.
Great program to help kids learn the fundamentals of swimming
My son learns so much from Miss Amy. I wish YMCA could offer additional days and times during the week.

My son's coaches are phenomenal! Great at their coaching, encouraging and very inclusive no matter the level of skills. They love the kids and it shows with all interactions.

Friendly, great coaches, facility is conveniently locared close to my home, great environment and I especially love and appreciate the oaths taken by players and parents before each game. We thoroughly enjoy having our son in sports with the YMCA.

flag football and basketball, well run, great seasons for my grandson
I love the YMCA sports, but I do have a few suggestions. My daughter is in youth basketball and this season her practice and game are on the same day. I think it was better when the practice was on a weekday. Also, I think it would be better if basketball was not co-ed. The girls have trouble competing with the boys. They rarely get a chance to get the ball. It isn't really fair to them.
I love that when my child does sports at the YMCA, they are seeing other kids that they've met for child watch and other kids that they've met through other programs. Even if they may not be families that we spend a ton of time with, there's that level of familiarity. And I've had great experiences with all the staff and coaches. I would like to see some more organizations around the practices. Because as a parent that is never done supports themselves as a child, I have no idea what I'm looking at when I watch the practices. It would be nice if I was given like a handout in the email that tells me what they are working on. That way when I'm playing at the park with my kid and they start talking about what they do at practice I will know what they're talking about.
This YMCA has everything! Easy parking, huge weight and exercise machine floor and variety, childcare, tons of group exercise classes, mind body studio, great pool AND pickleball courts!
It has all you want and need in a YMCA!
