Kids seem to enjoy the activities. Outdoor activities are limited, and surfaces are rough, causing abrasions and scrapes.
Kids seem to be able to do independent crafts when they choose.
Lots of activities to keep the kids busy. And they get to make new friends. My kid really looks forward to going every week.
I love there is swimming one day and a field trip!! The Boerne location didn’t have the swimming day.
My girls adore the teachers and love doing all the arts and crafts set up for the day or afternoon!
I like that the program is offered for the whole summer. Counselors are wonderful and caring. Well organized and activities are planned out well.
All I know is that my 8 year old grand-daughter had a great time. She was always happy and excited when I picked her up each day. The staff were wonderful.
My girls always have a smile on their faces when I pick them up, except when I show up "too early" and they don't get to do an activity they were looking forward to - oops! They have a great time and always have stories to tell me about their day. In the beginning there were a few complaints about the lunches being served by the food bank, but they stopped around the 3rd week. The staff that I encounter are always polite and friendly, and I feel good about my choice to bring them to the Y @ NLC.
Great location, my son has fun. I personally just wish they did more outside earlier in the day.
Friendly personnel; time of operations 7am-6pm; and Field trips

Son Divertidos y los niños aprenden mientras conocen nuevos Amigos
My daughter enjoys going there every day, and I appreciate that they organize weekly field trips based on different themes. Although the facility is smaller than other YMCA locations and does not have a pool, I truly appreciate the staff—they are always welcoming and greet everyone with a smile.
The swim lessons were great. Brian was very nice and really showed that he cared about the students in his class.
My son loves the activities that they do and enjoys and looks forward to the trips. Love that they kids everyday come with many arts and crafts activities that they are very happy and proud to bring home. My children loved the clay and slime activities. What i wish they could improve is being able to monitor more the kids in the video gaming, the kids are allowed to go into the computer and have access to any game they wish and some maybe inappropriate for them. Especially if they are in the small age group. That is one item that wishes improves, either provide them with a couple of games that are appropriate that they can play with but not give them a computer where they have access to everything and they are not being closely monitored.
This clinic was great for my daughter to get an idea of the fundamentals of volleyball. Great staff.
My daughter loved all the activities! She came home everyday happy and telling me about all the fun stuff she did.
Great summer program!
I appreciate that there are a good variety of activities, and the staff working with the kids have been great!
My kids come back very happy!
Field trips, communication, and genuine excitement the staff have toward the kids.
We have used the Y for swimming lessons now for 2 years and overall, we really like it.
I did want to provide one bit of information though in hopes it will help other parents. We signed our son up for 2 weeks' worth of private swimming lessons this year because he had phased out of what was offered at our location.
Unfortunately, towards the end of the first week's lessons, he developed an ear infection, needed medication, and the doctor advised him not to swim for a week. The problem though was that we could not get the aquatics director at the Thousand Oaks location to call us back once this happened. We tried to call him multiple times to see if we could reschedule the lessons and left multiple messages. He never did call us back, so we ended up going to the front desk at the Thousand Oaks YMCA location, and someone at the desk did help us reschedule.
Perhaps you could let families know who to contact if an emergency occurs during the week of swim lessons and rescheduling is needed (just to make things smoother)?
The counselor care for the kids and being able to communicate with parents
The very friendly staff!
