So far my child enjoys the time spent at Sylvan
My son really enjoys going! He earns tokens, and knows he can buy little toys at the end. So he tried to do his best. The reward system really helps him. He really likes mrs. Lisa! :)
Ellie has really enjoyed her Sylvan experience thus far! Her only complaint is she feels distracted by other classes in her ear shot. I think its from younger readers.
Our son has attended just over a month now and we have already noticed his confidence building. He seems to be able to grasp his spelling words easier and is scoring better on his tests...and we do not review those at Sylvan, only at home. He doesn't always want to go when it is time, but he always walks out with a big smile and with excitement. He has yet to report any concerns. We have already referred a few friends and will continue referring as this is an amazing service to our school-aged children, especially those who have been more affected by covid. I would love to see other ways of utilizing Sylvan's programming within the school as services are expensive. It is an investment, but one I am pleased we made.
We loved the staff that we met and the initial visit that we had at the center. Now we are trying to work on a schedule for course work but the scheduling has been held up on our end as we wrap some prior commitments.
The kids love to attend, the results are demonstrated via their learning system, and it takes a LOT of pressure off this homeschool mom.
Very positive environment for my 8th grader who needs extra Math support. Everyone is kind and encouraging.

Emily's approach with my daughter is great and the connection I feel has really made progress thus far possible. The program has proven to show results so far and I am very pleased with the increase in self-confidence that I am seeing. I am very pleased thus far.
I like that it's available, it's really pricey and unfortunately not all families can participate and help their child. With that said I'm lucky we were able to borrow the tuition cost and we're happy that such an amazing place exist, even if only for a certain income bracket. The staff has been amazing and wonderful to work with as well. They do an amazing job!
Been fantastic with my daughter, sure do appreciate their services during this pandemic.

I started this service because my daughter needed some serious help and was not getting it from our local public schools. At this point they started the "No Kid Left Behind", when this happened she no longer seemed to get the help to learn. My daughter has been in this program for a long time, but because of this I have learned a lot about Sylvan.
They are a very dedicated group of teachers set up to be geared to the kids. I have seen kids who are not happy to be coming on the first day to being very happy and looking forward to the learning by the time they have been at this site we are located at. That alone tells you a lot about the fact that Sylvan wants the kids to be happy to want to learn and in doing this is probably why they are so good at what they do.
The learning is very dramatic. When they say your kid will be a grade better they are not kidding. I have noticed a difference when my kid has not gone to Sylvan to when she does.
This site is also very adjustable to my and my kids hectic schedule. During the winter we are reduced to a very tight schedule and that gets even more tighter when you add school activities. Many of times this site has been very adjustable to getting the kids in when we can.
I now have enrolled both my kids in this location. My daughter is graduating this year and Sylvan has been very good at helping her find and apply for scholarships so that she can succeed in what she wants to do in her life. Because of this she has gotten accepted into the two collages she wants to go to.
On top of that this site has been to my kids school where they had set up a time frame with my son's third grade teacher at the time and introduced the class to the robotics program that they have. This program gets Sylvan out to the local schools and teaches the kids a fun way of learning today's technology. This is a great site for things like that when you got to think that our schools location is 64 miles from the Traverse City location.
Another program that this site has helped my daughter on was her SAT's. And let me tell you that is not a easy fact because she is ADD. When we had her tested at school we found out she had a very low short term memory retention, but a great long term memory. Sylvan used that information and adjusted her program to use that to her advantage.
You would think at this time she would no longer be using this site but that is not so. Sylvan is also set up to help her during her collage time frame and we are going to use it.
So from a mom at the Elementary point to Graduation and Beyond, I have found that Sylvan is a very beneficial set up for me and my kids..
We really can see the improvement in our son already. I like that the program starts where the child is currently at in their academic level and builds up from there to where they need to be at academically. I also really like that they also include self esteem building along in the program, I think that self esteem is a big part of building academic success. I also like how they work with the families and understand schedule times and family life and make schedule times easy to set up.
My son feels welcomed and he likes it!

After my son worked with the director on reading comp for one two hour session, he never missed more than 5 in an entire reading section part of the SAT.
His math instructor caught him up on the skills but also taught him how to attack a math question because they are delivered in an unfamiliar form. The trick is an approach to getting ro the answer as quickly as possible when a method is not obvious. My son learned approaches and the math went from a confidence killer to a source of pride.
Individualized plan for tutoring based on students academic needs. Staff are professional and experienced, and personable.
How convenient it is. How amazing the staff is working with all the kids.
The staff located at the Traverse city office go beyond and above all my expectations. Each and every one of them are patient and take time to help kids learn and grow. I will always reccomend Sylvan
My kids have been going there for awhile. Because of them they get help whenever they need it. When we have missed a day here or there it shows in their grades. If i had my way my kids would be going to school at this location and not in the school they are in. I would hate to say it. If our schools were more like sylvan we would have a better education for our kids. And not have to have a location like sylvan. So as long as our public system is like it is i will always be grateful for sylvan and the care they give my kids.

My student was enrolled late into the Sylvan Learning Center environment but relates that they enjoy the programming that has been set up for the student and likes the teachers.
The director made enrolling a simple process and gave me the opportunity to ask as many questions as I needed to fully understand how the Sylvan Learning program works. I fully believe this will make a positive change in my student's learning.
