We like everything about Sylvan. We have been using Sylvan's services for seven months now, and will continue to as long as our 8th grade daughter needs to. Small teaching sizes and staff
Everything, Sylvan helps me out so much to keep me in line with my college homework, They look at my work to see how i am doing and if i have any questions they are rite there to answer them for me. Lisa and Karie go the extra mile to help in any way they can. They not only help by explaining they work they also set you down and show you so you understand it. Basically they make the gobly goop make sense.If you have any difficulty with anything brad Lisa,Joe,Karie and i forget some other names but will sit down with you and make the extra effort so you understand what you are doing. Sylvan has been a god send for me !! Because of the extra help i get from those awesome teachers i was able to make the Deans list for my college this last summer. Without their help,understanding and knowledge i know for a fact i would not have done as well as i did. The only thing else i have to say is, the instructors can't get paid enough for all that they do for all the students. I hope i amble to keep going to Sylvan as long as i can, because the day i have to stop going i will miss the super people that work there,and i will miss all there vast knowledge that helps me understand the work that is placed in front of me from college.I would love to personally thank each and every teacher that teaches at the Traverse City Sylvan school because if not for them, allot of students would not have been able to accomplish there goals that Sylvan has helped them reach. The teachers are all so kind. My granddaughter is greeted each session with a big smile, and a "Hi, how are you today."
They are attentive to her needs as a little girl as well as her academic success. Most important, she throughly enjoys her time at Sylvan of Battle Creek.
Although an investment, the time spent getting our son prepared for the ACT was invaluable. He liked the teacher, received great instruction on strategies for success in taking the ACT, and eliminated the stress and fear that often strikes kids who take the test. The latter was the one thing that our son really appreciated - having confidence in taking this test without fear and that attitude has carried over to his normal classroom tests.

Class times/location. Small class size so more one-on-one learning.
My son was struggling with math and the teachers at Sylvan were able to work with his predominate learning styles and get him up to speed. Due to his work at Sylvan this past year he got As every trimester in math. Now he says that math is an 'easy' class.
The staff tailors the program to each students' individual needs and is responsive to questions and concerns.
My daughter has improved almost 2yrs. in a little over a years time, and any time I have questions regarding school the director has always answered my questions or gave me advice when the school could not or would not. That's pretty sad when a parent has to get answers from someone other than the childs school teacher.

The ability that you have to customize a plan for my child's needs. I am very impressed with the way that Sylvan has addressed learning styles. Since not all people learn the same way, I value the flexibilty to teach my son in the most effective way for him.

My husband and I appreciate the quick response to our daughters needs. Also, the focus on rebuilding her confidence. Knowing we have the Sylvan staff to help us this school year is taking the anxiety out of starting a new school year. The instructors are bye far the best most wonderful people you could have as instructors. They sit down with you and you get one on one teaching if needed. Lisa,Carrie,Brad and Joe are the best teachers i have ever met.They always go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable with what you are doing,they do not make you feel like they do not want to be their or like you are being rushed. They all take their time with each and every student to make sure you are getting the best knowledge that they can give you. I am very happy with sylvan and it is the best thing that has happened to me to help me with my college classes.If it were not for Sylvan Name removed would be in a sinking boat,but Sylvan is the plug that is keeping me afloat and helping me make sense of my classes that i do not understand.
