Updates throughout the facility are appreciated, especially the new circuit exercise equipment as it was much needed and a great change. The location change of equipment allows more space between each machine with a more open feeling to the space. Staff are always friendly and professional.
I love the Aqua River Challenge that Jody teaches. Previously I had gone to this class on a regular basis, until Angela was no longer teaching it and then I stopped going as they didn't have a new instructor lined up. I tried it again last Friday and loved it! I'm hoping to get back to going weekly now that they have a wonderful l instructor in place. I think the Pool at the North Kansas City is amazing and I love the Lazy River feature. The changing rooms are always clean and neat and the staff that check you in are very friendly and welcoming. The entire facility has such a lovely bright and open atmosphere that although I live just a few minutes from the Cleaver YMCA it's definitely worth the drive up North to participate in the Aqua River Challenge Class. Many thanks for providing such a great instructor, staff and facility!!!
Very clean and a nice layout. John did orientation for machines and gave me a tour. He didn’t rush and he was very thorough. I like the variety of classes. I live in Kansas by the Providence Y but the staff at North Kansas City is much more friendly.
Good gym!
So many activities offered!!
Friendly staff willing to help you!
I love the variety of classes. The staff and instructors are always friendly and helpful, it makes going to the Y a community experience!
All of it but especially the pool.
It is a very good facility. It is kept clean and has a lot of available workout equipment. It has a good steam room, sauna, hot tub, and a good swim pool, including a river walk and a children's activities pool area in it too. It has meeting rooms, free coffee, a children's room, basketball courts, special activities rooms, ping-pong table, foosball table, and other things too. What's not to like?
I use the Platte City YMCA as it is closer to me, but I was interested in the classes in the North Kansas facility.
Nice clean spacious facility and friendly people. Great equipment!
But the upstairs treadmills were relocated right above the gym, where loud basketball players are yelling and screaming during the lunch hours. I try to walk during my lunch time and it's hard to enjoy the facility with all the noise. I shouldn't have to use headphones or ear plugs to block out the noise, so I generally just turn my phone music up on high to balance out the noise. I'm sure that's annoying to others, but so is the noise.
The work out machines were relocated to where the treadmills used to be, and they work fine there, but they were moved from an area that had great lighting and was quiet. They are now using that area for a few hand weights and stretching bands. Wasted space.
Also, the clocks were recently covered with a shiny plastic that reflects the light and can't be read.
Weight room, sauna, pool
The new equipment really makes a difference.
I love the new equipment and friendly staff. The Y has so much available for both young and old.
BUT A HINDERANCE...........requiring reminders.
Put up signs to say
"Be courteous, wipe off equipment when you are done.
Keep in mind others are waiting to use the equipment."
AND
Make sure paper and disinfectant are available to wipe off the equipment. Lately few rolls or liquid are available.

The machines and the girls at front desk. Always welcoming!
I enjoy the variety of quality machines , the sauna, pool and Hot tub. This YMCA is quite spacious and has quality employees, whom generally acknowledge you and are quite welcoming and attentive.
I love the indoor track which is perfect for really cold days or extreme hot days I also love the wonderful gym equipment they have as well as the swimming pool and other activities it's got everything.
Never too busy. Always machines available. Family friendly. Not a competitive environment like some gyms. I also like that there are so many options for fitness: classes; a track, a pool, weight machines. I think coming to the YMCA will be a good way to keep me motivated because i won’t get bored.
It's very friendly place. It's very spacious. I love the track, when iits not too hot up there
The womens locker room swim suit spinner is broken now and breaks often.
Also I've seen two roaches, at different times in the womens locker room. That should probably be taken care of before it's gets out of hand.
The pool!
he staff that works there is ALWAYS friendly and I absolutely love that. Especially when i come in at 5:00 am. I bought a membership to Crunch Fitness that just opened up and when I tell you I have inconsistent service with them it's nerve wrecking. Their trainers have attitudes and have no people skills whatsoever. I've only been there a few times and will be canceling my membership with them. Also, I like the size of the locker room. I like to go to the gym in the morning and I usually get ready for work at the gym after my workout. There is more than enough room for people to get ready at the Y. At Crunch Fitness the locker room is so small where you have to get ready, it's annoying. The small bench is only big enough for 1 person and the space where the lockers are is so small for the amount of people that uses the facility. Very poor planning. And when I workout at the Y, I NEVER run out of room. Sorry to do the comparison but had to so that you can see why I like the Y instead of the new Crunch Fitness.
I really like the NKC YMCA facility- I have had to step back from my membership because both my son and I have had a hard time finding time to come in. So- for the time being- we're going to step out but hope to return later this year.
I really like your equipment availability and the diversity of activities and PEOPLE at the Northtown Y!
The staff is very kind and helpful and the food pantry they do every month to help the community is wonderful I have been going to the YMCA/nkc community center off and on for 23 years...
Very nice facility and friendly people and staff.
Thank you for getting the steam sauna up and running.
I love the hours which the Y is open. I enjoy the sauna and hot tub after walking in the pool and the extended hours of keeping them open on Monday and Wednesdays are a blessing. It gives me the time and chance to enjoy those activities on the two days without having to rush from my daily chores only to slip-in a short period of time.
Thank you so much for those extended hours, I hope those two days can be extended to more days in the future especially with warmer weather coming up I am hopeful I'll be able to attend the "Y" more often.
Blessings,
A lot of seniors there so we feel very comfortable
The people who work at NKC Y are friendly! There are lots of classes to choose from and the pool is cool. I like walking on the track because it’s bright and spacious. A wide variety of people work-out there so it’s easy to feel comfortable. Finally, if you’ve ever thought about hiring a Personal Trainer this is the place to give it a try! The pricing is competitive and in my experience, and that of others I’ve talked to, the PT staff is fantastic!
Convenience
Went for my first time in the gym. John was very thorough about showing me the equipment and explaining what the device does and other things within the building.

Nice People - relaxed environment for walking.
