I checked out the Kid Zone, I may be bringing my grandson at some point. Nkosi took time to greet me, answered a lot of questions. He was amazing , I would definitely feel comfortable leaving my grandson with him!
Abigail, Body Pump Instructor, also answered a lot of questions I had about modifications for the class! She’s amazing.
All were friendly, professional and were genuinely helpful!!
I spoke to another lady at the front about the Book Club~she was very fun and we shared some laughs~ I didn’t get her name!
This is a great facility. The staff is helpful and there is plenty of space for people to share the workout equipment, run/walk, play basketball, swim, and take organized exercise classes.
First, I have been a member of the NKCC facility since the second month it opened. Thank you for finally reopening the swimming pool during the day on Mondays and Wednesdays. One small change that should be implemented is a sign located as you enter the workout area upstairs. There are times during the day that are to busy for just one person to tie up a machine that there is only one of its kind available. (I am not talking about treadmills, bicycle machines or ellipticals.) Today I was waiting to use the adjustable incline to do sit-ups. I did 3 other machines watching the person standing next to it on the phone. I finally went over and asked if they were using incline. They said they have a couple more sets. And then they went back to scrolling their phone. It was 15 minutes later they were done. And then I went to use the pectoral machine--the one you sit down on. I waited until the person on it got off. That person that was on it was now doing push-ups on floor. I went over to set the weight. I was then yelled at by that person doing push-ups, "I am not done". I backed away. I watched that person get back on the machine and then do push-ups and then back on the machine a few times. Someone else could have used the machine while that person was doing push-ups and resting between each exercise. The sign on entering should say something to the affect one set on a machine and move away, no waiting on a machine to do more sets, others may want to use that machine. Thank you.
Excellent Staff! Need more stationary bikes. Frequently have to wait.
I loved the deep water exercise class and the instructor. The entire facility was very clean and everyone was friendly.
Staff, instructors, and facility are exceptional. Always in great condition, and helpful, friendly atmosphere. Excellent value, best pool and classes too.
We have been going there since it opened in 2000 and just love the layout. Now that the Y has taken over it has just become better.
The pool is always well maintained and I love the variety of classes!
My son loves to play basketball and have made several friends.
Convenience near my house in the pools.
However, the men’s locker room needs to be more maintained.. cleaned, shower heads replaced, which do may only cost $20 at most.
Hair dryer’s repaired or replaced.
Again minor things that show that the customer matters. These are all hygienic matters.
People are so friendly and nice
When the pool/sauna/steam room area closes down between 1:00pm and 4:00pm can you please not turn off the sauna. The sauna seems to always get turn off and then turned on at 4:00 and it can take well over an hour before it gets back up to normal temperature.
The young lady who last attended me was very helpful and polite and professional
I really like the equipment at this YMCA, and the facility is consistently clean. My main issue has been with the customer service at the front desk. This does not apply to every employee, but I have had several interactions where the staff seemed dismissive, rushed, or unnecessarily rude. I think there needs to be more emphasis on clearly communicating information to members.
For example, I recently asked the front desk about bringing my wife in using my membership’s guest benefit and purchasing day passes for my two young children so we could use the pool together. I was told that would be no problem.
The following day, we arrived around 4 PM fully prepared to spend the afternoon at the pool. I came in expecting to purchase the day passes, only to be told that day passes could no longer be purchased after 3 PM. I completely understand that policies are policies, but nobody had mentioned this restriction when I specifically asked about the process the day before.
What bothered me even more was the way the information was communicated. The employee’s tone came across as very passive-aggressive, and we were essentially told to drive to another YMCA and see if they would let us in. The interaction was frustrating enough that I seriously considered canceling my membership.
We tried again the following day and arrived around 2 PM so we could purchase the day passes and complete my wife’s guest paperwork. After doing everything we had been told to do, we were then informed that the pool would not be available until 4 PM.
I understand that schedules change and policies exist, but all of these unnecessary trips and frustrations could have been avoided with better communication from the beginning. We were simply trying to spend one afternoon—really just an hour or so—at the pool together as a family.
This was especially disappointing because I had been trying to convince my wife that we should upgrade to a family membership so we could all start coming regularly. Instead, the experience left both of us frustrated. Not only did the YMCA potentially lose a family membership because of poor customer service, but it also left a longtime member feeling extremely dissatisfied.
The facility itself is great. I just wish the level of customer service at the front desk consistently matched the quality of the gym.
Lots of option on equipment to work on, lots of different classes to take. Convenient hours, low cost.
