I'm a new member and I am taking advantage of the many group exercise classes offered to both advance my personal fitness and to meet people. As a person who works nights, I especially like that this YMCA offers a variety of class opportunities during the day.
I attend the group classes. I like the friendliness and experience of the instructors and I really like that the classes are small (not overcrowded like some gyms!). I do have a comment I'd like to share. When I toured the gym before joining, the gentleman who showed me around knew I was interested in group classes. He showed me where the rooms would be and he told me everything is provided (weights, etc) except mats. Although I found that really odd, I took him at his word and spent $100 buying a quality yoga mat thinking I would need it for years to come and didn't want one that was going to fall apart. Imagine how I felt going to the first few classes (hauling around my new mat) only to discover that MATS ARE PROVIDED (as most gyms do). I was a little frustrated that he didn't know this which caused me to go buy one (which I couldn't return by then). So my suggestion is that all the people you have giving tours provide the same information -- and accurate information. That's my only negative thing to say (because it was an error on his part that cost me $100 unnecessarily).
Everyone is so friendly. The instructors are there to help and give you a good work out experience.
I specifically joined because of the Egym machines. They were easy to use with the band I received from my YMCA in Virginia Beach, VA. The machines are great for older members because they automatically adjust to your specific settings and monitor your progress. I wish you would give out bands to operate the system because I don't like to drag my phone around with me when I exercise. Small lockers with locks on the exercise floor would be great for people who don't want to carry their phones but like to connect to them via bluetooth for music.
The staff are friendly and helpful...the building is clean...We are impressed with the new workout machines...and it is just a nice place to be.

The activities provided
I love the atmosphere at this gym and the members are also very pleasant. As a visually impaired individual I feel comfortable with the ease of accessibility here. It truly feels like a community here. I also see new equipment at the gym that I am eager to try out!
The volunteers(?) at the reception desk are always very nice and helpful. I like that the atmosphere of the Y is community-focused.
The weight room, cardio machines, locker rooms, pool and deck areas are very clean and well maintained. I always have a pleasant experience working out at NKC YMCA!
Enjoy water aerobics and the staff who teach the classes.
