I was there on Saturday to participate in the new Les Mills launch, and I greatly enjoyed the classes and instructors! I recommend the North KC Y to many people!
It's a great environment where you can go in and participate in any type of athletic exercise to get yourself in better shape. The facility is very clean, and, the folks are very friendly and helpful in getting you set up properly.

Actually, I've not been able to experience this particular Y because the day of my visit the pool was closed due to maintenance issues. The reason for my score of 10 is because I like the location and the size of the pool area.
I rotate between 3 YMCA's because everyone has a different thing I like. For example, my favorite things at Northtown are the hot sauna, the tire that you can flip and the assisted pull up/chin up bar and the lazy river. And the slide. Also, the patrons there seem very serious about their fitness and people of all ages and types are there. No one is overly aggressive and as a single woman I can go there without fear any time of day. It is not ok to share my name outside of this survey but it is ok to share this comment.
Cleanliness, friendly staff but on the downside there should be more evening classes for those who work during the day
I love the pool and the walking track for individual exercise. I love the variety of classes for group experiences - I've made new friends just by joining in classes. It's much more fun to have people to relate to when working out. The convenience of the location, hours, cleanliness, and ample parking make it a great place to go.

The entire upper walking track area is so dusty. Rafters, lighting, ventilation. All needs a thorough cleaning.

We walk in doors when Hot and it works out nicely down there - We are closer to Parkville but love the variety

I love the camaraderie in the pool during our stretching class with Bill. The Y has a very inviting atmosphere. I do not like that it has taken way too long to get the new pool heater!!!!!

The swimming pool
Every piece of equipment is in working order! The pool is fantastic and my grandkids love to swim here.
Great workout facility. However the men's locker room needs a lot of deferred maintenance an cleaning done.
- shower curtains don't cover the entire width of the shower
- several tiles are missing in the shower from prior repairs.
- the benches are very stained and need to be sanded and revarnished or replaced.
- there is a strong musty oder that usually means mold is growing somewhere.
