My kids have been students at the SoR for 4 years. It is the highlight of their week. They have amazing instructors and staff. My kids feel at home there. This program has helped them with their confidence. They make learning music fun. I couldn’t imagine taking my kids anywhere else.
I believe we signed our son up at the wrong time for the school.
Lisa is absolutely WONDERFUL and this review is no reflection of how she represents the school and cares for the children that attend, I adore her.
The reason it was important for our son to join School of Rock-
We had to move abruptly, due to the snowstorm. This is a new area to us, as we previously lived in Coppell. Our son has been in virtual school and with the move, he will have to make new friends. His instruments were in storage until we moved to this area. So we wanted to get him back involved with his music as quickly as possible.
The first class our son attended, he did not get a chance to play or interact with an instrument. The second class the following week, it was the same- he didn’t touch an instrument. In both classes he was only able to look at the other children play. The third class he was excited to have a 1-on -1 session with Nick, but there was a substitute, so he didn’t get a chance to review the song they previously discussed.
I wanted to cancel after this month, but our son said
all the children were really nice to him and he liked all the students.
Great teachers, great environment. Kids enjoy so much putting the songs together, they let them explore other instruments as well if they’re interested. My kid loves it, and we love watching the progress he’s made!
Fun people. Challenging music. Diverse tastes. Performance oriented. Real rockers!

I like that my son enjoys his class and I like how affordable the classes are.
I think my kids have learned more in the last few months at school of rock than they did with a year of regular music class. Kudos to this program. If I were to suggest improvements, I would suggest better mentoring of the newer/younger teachers. Just being here a few months, I can tell that Melissa is the superstar teacher. My kids are always happy when she's part of her class. Maybe putting cameras in the practice rooms so the directors can monitor whats happening during practices.
Great instruction, great people. Mask policy needs to go.
Amazing School! Amazing stuff! My 13 year old daughter is so happy at the School of Rock Champions Forest.
Love it! Our son is learning so much and he is excited to go every week.
My granddaughter finds it very enjoyable and she is learning really fast.
This was an amazing program. I love every bit of the lessons. My piano teacher was the best and the owner of the school makes you feel like family. The lessons were designed to help you learn and understand the theory of music. All the staff is approachable and the facility was neat and clean at all times. I would highly recommend this school to anyone from minor to adult age.
Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable and I have learned so much in a short amount of time. So have my 2 children.

Quality teachers. Organized shows. My child has a lot of fun. Has made friends.
The performance program has given my son a new passion. I wanted him to learn an instrument. I had no idea he would become obsessed!! Video games have slowed and all I hear are guitar riffs coming from my 13 year old's room. Can't thank SOR and Bri enough for igniting a passion that will provide a lifetime skill to my son!
Wonderful school with amazing teachers and staff. Southlake SOR has been and continues to be an excellent fit for our family for many years now.
Originally, I signed my son up for a weekly 45 minute guitar lesson and a 3 hour rehearsal in 2020. Understandably during the pandemic, most lessons were held virtually or not at all. The rehearsals were not 3 hours and ended up being 1-1.5 hours at most and the kids hardly had rehearsals during the pandemic months. I explained that my son did not do well with virtual lessons and asked for a discount in the $324.00 monthly rate, but was denied any break in the full tuition price, which was disappointing.
For my son's first "show", he played on 2 songs out of the whole set. There was some miscommunication amongst the leaders about the timing of the songs being played and when kids had to leave, and it was not communicated to my son when the changes were made and therefore he missed playing on a song, which was also disappointing. I signed my son up for SOR hoping that he would meet new people since he was practicing in a band, but it has not worked out.
Our son had to change teacher 2x already since we been taking lesson for less than 6 months. He just start to get use to his first teacher and then had to get use to the new one . We enjoyed the school but it was a little tough for him just starting out and had a lot of changes already .
What I like most is that the school style makes easy for the kids to connect and the people that works particularly in our school of rock

I like the adult student band aspect, the interaction of the band members and the work of Eric as my instructor and band coordinator..

School of Rock challenges our child to step out of their comfort zone, explore different music styles, and grow as a performer while developing their technical skills.
We can see how much our child enjoys going, and how much he has grown as a musician since he started! Totally impressed with SOR and how they teach the child
Communication is always timely and consistent. My daughter loves her guitar lessons and her Teacher keeps her engaged with learning more and more.
So far, my son is really enjoying the instruction on the drums and the Rock 101 band practice. He likes his instructor, David, and has a really good time.
Billie Wigington is a great drum instructor. My son looks forward to seeing him each week. We appreciate the care and enthusiasm he brings as a teacher.
School of Rock Southlake is awesome! I love the social and skills aspects of the Adult Band Program!
I love the both the individual instruction and group performances. I've had nine seasons of gigs at local venues and four years of private lessons from a host of professional and knowledgeable teachers that make the process fun. From Melissa and Beth for vocals, Tim for drums, and James for guitar, I've learned a great deal.
The General Manager, Bri, deserves a huge thanks for her handling of every situation from multiple status and schedule changes to implementing unique and worthwhile workarounds during the dreaded pandemic.
I love School of Rock in general and the Southlake/Keller location specifically!!
