I am always treated as they know me and my vehicle. Although not the cheapest they almost feel like you are taking your vehicle to your buddy's garage to have it worked on (a professional buddy).
My mother recently took her vehicle to Christian brothers. The manager I believe it was entered into a light hearted conversation left and returned with hot fudge Sunday's! It was a shock because the conversation was in a joking manner which hinted to ice cream.

They were very quick to send help when one of our company cars died with an employee in it. Quickly assessed the situation and we were fortunate that they suggested a charity to which we were gladly able to donate the car when it was determined that the car was not worth fixing to us. We are grateful for the opportunity to donate and don't think that would have happened with another shop.
