I love the workouts. I like the structure and the fact I can workout with a proven system without trying to figure out when to walk, when to run, etc
I dont like the new heartrate science. I shared the numbers with my doctor and he recommended me discontinue going to OTF if they refuse to bring my max heart rate down from 195. He said with my blood pressure issues and medication I take, I should never push to 195. I told him it used to be 177 and he said that was a good heart rate (for a max). He said I should moderate workout and occasionally peak my heart but never push to the point your new science says I should go. I have been with this studio since it opened and I don't want to quit but given the fact the studio won't listen to my concerns about pushing my heart more than I am comfortable with, I may listen to my doctor. His Goal is my health and he knows my health concerns and it feels like your science doesn't care about the actual client when I try to express my concerns. My max rate is 195 at 48 years old and whatever that number is, I try to get my splats....its Making my chest hurt all weekend to even get my splat points now because the number is so outrageous.
So my point, your new science takes a person who already had a high heart rate who has high blood pressure and takes medication and pushes it even higher to the point you want the patient to rupture their heart, and ask for a doctor note to lower that number? Anybody in their right might would know someone who is 48 years old with health concerns already should not be pushed harder than 25 and 30 year old healthier members. Their hearts could handle that stress better than a 48 year old. I don't understand how any science could tell someone to keep such a number and then basically refuse to adjust it without a doctor note. I have that note but the note pretty much recommended me stop going there but he did give recommended numbers which were max of 175 to 177 compared to your 195 I am rated now. I might just continue to go and not wear a monitor at all and when I fill strain I just assume my numbers are creeping up and slow down. Trying to keep up with the colors now is hurting my chest (my green is still 162 beats per minute which should be red...or orange at tbe least for my age and medical condition).
I will push to what your numbers say because I am competitive and want to get my splat points but I cant allow your science to explode my heart after asking, almost begging to adjust my number to a more medically recommended number.
I would really like someone to call me as I spoke with the studio manager and was told to provide a doctor's note to change it. I do have that but my issue is even a person who is not a doctor should know a 48 year old male in decent shape (not an athlete) who takes blood pressure and at risk for stroke should never be at 195 max heart beat. It's my health and I should be able to somewhat give my recommendation for a real number to protect my heart health.

It’s very challenging. The coaches are really helpful in terms of helping you reach your highest potential for a great workout.
I enjoy the people I work out with and the coaches are very good. They assist with many of the exercises when I’m having issues with injuries.
I like having a safe place to better my physical health. Participating in exercise routines that are developed by experts and having supportive coaches to assist when needed is much more effective than going to the gym and working out by myself.
I like the variety of the workout. No 2 workouts are the same.
