Looking for a more economical option

My yard looks so much better all summer without weeds & stays healthy looking. Of course, this summer we lacked rain but didn't do too bad.
When it's aerated I'd like for the dirt plugs to be cleared off the sidewalks. It rained before I could remove them & then we had mud. Not good as it was easily tracked into the house. :-(
