I wish there were an easier way to respond to inspections as a homeowner so that I feel the report is a little more accurate. One example, in section 7.2 AmeriSpec's inspector stated "Different breaker manufacturers installed in electrical panel. - Eaton Cutler-Hammer switches and Square D switches" and essentially said it would nullify any warranty. If the inspector had done a little research online, they would have found that Cutler-Hammer and Square D are both manufactured by Eaton Manufacturing, which is the manufacturer of the electrical panel I have. One is a less expensive switch than the other, Eaton Manufacturing even goes as far to state on their website the switches are interchangeable in their electrical panels. Now I have to explain this part of the report to any potential buyers. I know the inspector cannot know everything, but at least when there is the possibility of an explanation as to why something is like it is a little more legwork should be done.
