Our daughter really struggled starting in grade 2 when Covid interrupted our lives and she had to switch to emergency at home schooling. Despite our wishes the school advanced her to grade 3, where she fell further behind. We tried to help her, get her to practice reading and math with us at home…. But we aren’t teachers and she resented us and hated it, and would put forward minimal effort. We knew- after the interruptions of Covid for that school year as well- that the school would just advance her to grade 4 no matter what and we were not going to let her start off behind if we could.
We turned to Sylvan for help, after searching online, so she could go through the summer still “in school”.
Best decision ever. We didn’t expect miracles overnight, and the progress has been steady and slow but consistent…. However the change in our daughter’s attitude towards school has done a 180, and that alone was worth it.
