The Tandy Y is a shining example of what the Y can be in this period of time. I miss the "outreach" days when every Y was challenged to improve the socioeconomic circumstances of the poor and persons of color, most especially those who might have been involved in criminal activity. No longer is the Y considered even a participant in the work to improve social equity as it has moved to corporate mission models to be able to attract funding for bricks and mortar.
