"Look for more mature managers to lead the young lifeguards. Kids promoted to manager within the same group, as in any workplace situation, causes hard feelings and a line that will always be crossed because there are friendships involved. If promoting, the person should go to another location and manage for a long while before placing them with their former peers."

That's a hard one. We would like more consistent lifeguards who are attentive to our homeowners. No cellphones etc.
