My oldest has really been struggling with grade 4 math this year and is having a hard time understanding instructions in the classroom and mastering concepts before they’ve moved on to the next module. At Mathnasium, concepts are explained in a way that make sense to him, and then he has time to practice and master those concepts. Both my kids enjoy going to Mathnasium and working with the wonderful team and collecting stars. My oldest is regaining his confidence and love of learning, and my youngest is thriving in school math thanks to the extra support from Mathnasium.
Our son started the school year (2nd grade) not wanting to go to school. It was the first year ever he felt this way and it was bc he was so behind in math. He felt like “the other kids know more.”
Two things that changed for us this school year was a diagnosis of ADHD which started him on medication to help focus, and the implementation of Mathnazium side by side. It was a game changer! Our son started to enjoy math, enjoy the subject that almost kept him from attending school! Mathnazium helped create confidence, understanding and give him the push he needed to get started on the right foot.
Now, If you ask him, guess what his favorite subject is?… math. ❤️

My daughter loves coming for her math sessions. I like how the sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each student. Mathnasium has helped my daughter to be more successful in math this year, and her confidence is growing. This has been so helpful to fill in some of the gaps my daughter was missing.

This team of math tutors are great. Owner/manager team is very easy to reach, quick to respond, and helps out our kids with their math understanding.
My son is in 10th grade Geometry and was having some difficulty early on. He was a little behind with his algebra skills, In only 2 months, they have been able to help raise his honors geometry grade from failing, to mid B range.
They are able to help with homework as well.
My daughter also had some knowledge gaps they are helping to fill in and also helping her with her Algebra 1 course.
I would highly recommend them to anyone, whether struggling in math or not, for math work.
They do a great job of communicating with the parents as well as we get constant updates on their progress.

We’ve really appreciated the Mathnasium and their passion for helping kids learn and love math. Their communication is great, our daughter is mastering math concepts, the environment is fun and encouraging and the staff is friendly and supportive.
My son enjoys learning at Mathnasium. The instructors make it fun and exciting. He has gained a lot of confidence in math in the few months we have been going to Mathnasium.
The staff is very knowledgeable of their students. They devise a plan that is made specifically for the individual. They are friendly and flexible and allow scheduling convenience for parents’ busy schedules .
We have seen a boost in math confidence and increased test results. Progress is recognized.
My children have been going to mathnasium for a month and they love going. I recently had conferences with their teachers and their math confidence has improved and they are more comfortable with the math concepts they are working on.

I can’t express enough how grateful I am we chose Mathnasium, Clarkston to support and guide our teen toward comprehension and success with math.
I believe there are avenues for each family and student depending on level of need. This so happened to be the best choice for my teen who had a history of struggling in math since 1st grade, received teacher led tutoring in Elementary, and special math support classes in Middle School. Math support wasn’t helping likely due to class sizes & lack of a TA. This scenario lowers the chances for students who are struggling to get the one on one support they likely need vs relying on their “group” within their class to work through lessons.
The Director Mathangi Purushotham has been amazing to coordinate with from the beginning. She is professional, kind, extremely intelligent, and it was clear how extensive her education and retention covered a wide range of principles. Mathangi has such a calm presence, she is patient, and laser focused on setting the best plan for each students specific needs. My teen was struggling at the assessment meeting & had anxiety. Mathangi didn’t rush, didn’t become impatient, and if anything I could tell she was concerned. Instead all my teen was able to pick up was compassion.
It has been just under one month of enrollment 2 days a week and my teen does not fight me to go, and does not loathe it. My teen has had different tutors (they have different schedules) and has not once complained of being uncomfortable with teaching styles or personalities. Since tutoring began my teen feels calmer in math class at school, is understanding more, feels more confident, and has less math anxiety.
Last week was a small win, the first A- on the math exam at school! I was so proud and moved at how much this impacted my teens self esteem!
We scheduled tutoring sessions the week of the exam two days in a row to see if it would help prepare and practice those equations to comprehend. Beyond elated that this option helped tremendously!
I hope this review can help a parent/s who may be in a similar position of watching their child struggle and in the predicament where you are unable to help them due to the common core style being taught,that we were not. Don’t give up and if your gut keeps telling you that your child needs more intensive help before they can’t catch up… then this is your sign! Mathnasium is a solid option.

Our son loves going to Mathnasium. Not only are they helping him catch up to the rest of his class, but it takes the frustration out of homework time at home. He feels in control at successful at Mathnasium, which is helping his confidence in the classroom. He comes home with funny stories of staff having to do jumping jacks, being able to pick a prize, or spin the wheel. But whatever it is that day, he leaves with a smile on his face, which is a huge win!
My son went from complaining about math to being excited to go to the mathnasium. His confidence has gone up, his concentration skills are improving, and his maths skills are accelerating quickly. All the instructors work so well with him. I also love the feedback we get after each lesson, so I know exactly how he’s doing. I would highly recommend the mathnasium to anyone who wants to help their good improve their confidence and math skills. So thankful this place is here, I don’t know what we would have done without it.

Aspen is so patient and makes math fun. Usually my kids dread more studying but they both look forward to Mathnasium.

Extremely friendly staff and great teaching methods. Both of my teenagers are enrolled in the Mathnasium year and they’re dramatically improving. They are understanding concepts much easier. Great way of teaching learning and practicing math skills. Would highly recommend for any of all students you whether they are struggling in math or not
