I learned a lot about my innate vocal and musical skills from Emily Petralia, vocal teacher. Emily encouraged me, taught techniques, and shared her enjoyment of music. I had the opportunity to join an ensemble of like minded, committed, and talented adults, lead, most recently by Sean Cranston and Emily. Those two experiences encouraged me to put doubts aside and find the confidence to perform and sing in public! I even invested in a electric guitar with thoughts of expanding old acoustic rudimentary skills to play in our Grad School recital!
That is a gift you cannot often find. Thanks Dave for putting the SORAlbany together and shepherding it through the years.

The excitement my granddaughter has regarding her music
School of Rock Albany has been one of the most meaningful and fruitful experiences of my son and my life. As a single dad that had a son who was struggling to find a place to express himself and his talents and to meet other kids like him, School of Rock Albany was a miracle cure. My son has found an identity and a group of friends that extends beyond music and into the other areas of life that go into growing up. I thank the manager Dave for what he has done for my son and the other rockers of the Capital District!
Dave is a fantastic instructor. My son's drum skills and confidence are improving because of Dave and his team.

We have brought our son to try guitar lessons. He is 16. He received a gift certificate for Christmas for 4 private lessons. The lessons were amazing , and he is now signed up for a show.

School of Rock has been incredible for both of my kids. They started with lessons and now my daughter is in the performance program. The instructors are great. It is amazing what these kids are able to do with their guidance. If your child has an interest in music I would highly suggest signing them up for lessons at this school.

My 12 year old daughter had an amazing time at camp. She didn't have a lot of experience singing with a live band but she said everyone was incredibly supportive and all of the other campers were very kind and encouraging. She especially liked teachers Tess and Dave. She's looking forward to getting involved more this fall.
My kid had hit a wall with piano after a few years of traditional, classically based lessons. She thought she didn’t like playing. We nudged her to try rock camp, and it really turned it around for her. The band coaches adjusted parts for her so that they weren’t too tricky but not too easy, and she held her own during the end of week performance. And, in spite of her initial hesitancy, she even had a featured riff in one song. The attitude shift in her from “I’m not good enough” to “I do have something to contribute” was worth the adventure, even if she doesn’t pursue rock keyboards as her main thing. Thanks for the good vibes, SOR!
