Love this school and so does my son. It's not just a music school. It's a home away from home. People of like minds that support each other and a safe place where there is no bullying and everyone is treated with respect.

I like my instructor and that he is always challenging me and customizing the lesson to fit my unique needs. I like that there is an opportunity to join performance groups when and if I and my instructor are ready. I like the friendly staff. They made me feel at home. I am not the typical School of Rock student. I am much older than the norm and was shy at first but they have made me feel like part of the SOR family. Thanks!

I do not know much about music, but I know that my son loves going to School of Rock . He tried 2 different places before and ended up leaving because he did not like it and got bored. Now he is so excited to learn and enjoy music and loves to practice every day at home.

That kids are taught their best songs to play rather than just introduce them to notes. Involving kids in bands once they start to make sense.

Fantastic!!!!!!!!! My teacher Matthew is really great. I learn so much during the lessons and he takes an interest in the music style that I like and teaches me how to play it.

The School of Rock is the best place to learn how to play an instrument. Even music theory is taught in a fun way and easy to understand.

I can highly recommend the School of Rock's program to all music enthusiasts from complete beginners to advanced musicians who want to expand their knowledge of music.

My daughter loves it and cannot rave about the instructors and set up enough. All the staff and owners are excellent to talk to and really seem to care about the kids.

Love the stage shows that are put on throughout the year to give the kids the experience to perform in front of live crowds

The teachers are very good both musically and at teaching. I like that you pick more difficult songs for the Rock 101 kids to do. It is fun watching them rise up to meet the challenge.

We love Nate and think the rehearsals/band/shows are great for the students! One suggestion would be to separate the very little kids from the high school kids in shows in order for the older kids to feel better about the band. Just a thought. Overall, we love it!

I like the variety of options offered for children to tailor their music education. They can pursue different instruments and opt to choose performance programs as well as lessons. I think in general music is a positive outlet for many reasons that have demonstrated benefits for children (psychological, neurologically, emotionally, socially). We are glad our son continues to choose to be involved in a way that he is comfortable with - sometimes performing and sometimes just lessons with his instructors. Either way we support his goals however he decides to achieve them.

We are happy that there are opportunities for Hunter to explore and we encourage his active participation and dialogue with the staff directly. Sometimes (but not always) this area is a challenge for Hunter especially in large group settings. We continue to share ideas and strategies with Hunter and his teachers or show directors regularly to help communicate with him more effectively (or to gauge his current interest level and goals.) We see this as a more successful strategy than leaving it up to him. Not for reasons of immaturity but due to his communication style, a personality type. We appreciate candid discussions about issues he may have and working towards solutions.

.

While we are happy to see a transition to mentor junior students aspiring to join House Band, we also hope to see some other potential opportunities for workshops open up in the future for support positions or performance basics:

sound engineering, entertaining audiences, stage presence etc .Basically, something for people that don't necessarily want to perform in the current season or may need some work on stage presence. Even occasional jam sessions.

We realize staffing/resources dictate what can be offered but perhaps some solutions can be found with exchanges to sister schools in Ashburn or Silver Spring?

Great work with Jenni!!! She loves it and looks forward to rehearsals and lessons and wants to practice at home. The concert was phenomenal and I was very impressed with the ability of all the kids and the support provided for those that still needed some help.

We love School of Rock. It's a great opportunity to get real, practical experience playing music on a real stage, in front of real people. It's been a great experience for our son, and we couldn't recommend it highly enough.

My son identifies with being a part of the School of Rock. He is challenged in his individual drum lessons and gets to play along with his talented teacher James. He values being a member of his Rock 101 band and getting together to practice every week. We love watching our son jam with his band at Roxy and Dukes. He gets to share what he enjoys with friends and family that come to watch him play. It is so great to watch the students be inspired by Rock!

My 2nd grader is an active person, who doesn't always get involved in his activities with any sort of enthusiasm, so imagine our delight when he got involved and enthusiastic about music! The programming is geared to spark a child's interest.
