The programs work. They are also very flexible and accommodating with the schedule. They will tweak the program as they work with the student, ensure the student is retaining what they have learned, and will go back and re-teach a topic if it was not retained by the student. My son needed reading help back in 2007. He was reading 2 1/2 grade levels below his grade. Sylvan was recommended by a neighbor. My son attended for 2 1/2 years and after doing the Sylvan program, he is now reading on grade level. I believe he would not be reading as well as he is now without the Sylvan program. We are now back for Algebra support, looking for similar results. Since Algebra builds on previous topics, they are going back to make sure he understands all the pre-requisite topics ensuring he has the proper foundation to be successful in Algebra. They are also very good with homework help. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!!
Aside from the academics, I liked the personal attention that we received. I felt like the center genuinely cared about my son and looked at the big picture.

I like the structured format at Sylvan and the feedback meetings with the director. It helped me as a parent know what skills my child had worked on and what skills were being introduced. My children like the rewards system; it really keeps them motivated.
