If it rains, there's puddles around the track and up stairs mats. There's been a few times in the last year that the clothes dryer hasn't worked so there were no towels. The hot water wasn't working for a few days so we had to take cold showers. Seems like the air conditioner was hardly working most of the summer. The sauna was out of commission a few times throughout the year. There would wrappers or empty bottles on the same machine for several days.
I would say in conclusion, general upkeep.
FIX THE WOMAN'S SHOWERS AND LOCKER ROOM!!!!!!!
The grand opening was in June, but still seems like construction is in process. The hot tub in Women’s locker room was still untouched at last glance. The outdoor pool is such a nice benefit, but could use updating. The little picnic area should have an awning, but it sits uncovered. I love the updates that have been made. It feels fresh and new.
There is constantly water coming from the ceilings. Equipment is constantly broken and also got rid of 1 of 2 leg presses that were popular.
Towels aren’t always available. There have been multiple times where there are kids pool events that happen but aren’t listed on the site which is annoying when I’m coming in to swim. Lastly, there are a bunch of lingering creepy old men in the locker room.
Love the group classes and trainers.
First of all call me
I was a member at Sky fitness, several years before Genesis bought Sky. Then I was a member at Lifetime Fitness for a few years before Covid shut everything down. After the Covid lockdowns I joined Genesis, mainly due to convenience of location and much less expensive than Lifetime, although Lifetime has much better all around facilities. Having said all that, my biggest issue with Genesis South Tulsa is an apparent lack of maintenance or upgrades to the equipment. Many of the rubber handles on weight machines should be replaced, same with many of the attachments for the weight machines. The spin bikes in the cycle room are severely outdated. The carpet throughout the facility is dirty with holes worn in it in several places. And then when I see news releases where Genesis has bought or opened a new facility it frustrates me that there appears to be little to no reinvestment in the facility I pay to use. Once it opens I will be checking out the new Crunch fitness which is a little over a mile further for me than Genesis. If the facility and equipment is nicer than Genesis and the price is reasonable I will likely move my membership for all the reasons I have stated.
Amenities and friendly staff
Cleanliness is a problem. The floor of thesauna in the womens bathroom is filthy. The pool is also very dirty. The area around the pool has also been dirty kids will leave Kleenex and food wrappers.
I really joined for tennis opportunities but the cost of courts is really high. I'm not sure if the total price tag is going to match what I get and what I'm paying for as much as I'd like to participate.
1. The facilities feel old and look old, they have gotten better since Genesis took over but they still look and feel old.
2. Update locker area and shower space… it’s dark and dingy and doesn’t feel clean and modern.
3. Get some Med Balls that aren’t falling apart
4. Have remotes available to staff so they can change channels for members in cardio area when there is an event or game on that they want to watch… the other day I was at the club and asked for the channel to be changed in the cardio are and I was told there was only one person that could change the channels and he wasn’t there and his office was locked, so there was nothing they could do.
The air conditioner breaks without fail every summer. It did it twice this summer.
The water exercises … .wish it wasn’t so far from home…30 minute drive
The fun and fellowship are great, exercise has helped me a lot.
It is to cold in the gym it needs to be warmer once you start sweating the air kicks on and all the fans are on
Hickman location is not well maintained. This is not news to you guys. Water leaks for years throughout the facility some leaks are running over electrical conduit which by all accounts is very dangerous and no doubt there is mold throughout the facilty due to these issues, filthy air filtration system, run down equipment although down time for broken equipment seems to have improved. HVAC system in one area or another either works or doesn't on any given day. Staff and members seem frustrated by these issues and more. Ownership should really make more effort at this location. If it doesn't make sense to infuse capital into this facility then close it. Having over 20 years of experience in private club management I fully understand how these operations should be run. It's poorly run and I don't necessarily blame the facility operators. This is an ownership issue. Prioritizing spending/issues, member satisfaction and managing cash flows are paramount in the successful club operation and this is lacking at the Hickman location.
Please do not call me and tell me I am a detractor and ask if I am ready to resign my membership like you did last time. You asked my opinion, I gave it. If you don't like my honesty stop sending me this survey. If you want help fixing the problems I'm happy to help. Do better.
Actually repair things that are broken in a timely manner. When ever I see a sign that says "We will get this fixed ASAP, sorry for the inconvenience", I immediately assume it will be out of action for a minimum of a month or two.
It is far better than the 84th and q location. The staff actually keep the place clean and the upkeep is far better. Wish I lived by this location still as it is by far the best compared to other "platinum" or higher level locations
The exercise classes at noon!
Fix things. I have asked for more bikes or to fix the bikes in the exercise room and still nothing. It has been months. Clean the place up.
I was told at sign up that I would have accessed to all genesis club in Nebraska. But it is actually false.
Keep the facilities in working order and keep the facilities cleaner
This past year it seems like there has been issues with the facility from the drains in the men's shower being plugged up (usually every other week), flooding in the men's locker room, broken equipment that never get fixed or takes along time to fix if at all (this is a big issue), and the leaky roof, that has not been fixed for more than a year. Now you can't even walk down the main stairs to get to the locker room.
Its to bad that the facility has gotten this bad.
If you want to make things right, at least give the customer a discount on the membership.
Group classes
Locations, time availability and how great my trainer is.
Pleasant friendly environment.
The club could use more handicapped elements such as automatic doors going into pool area from locker room.
It pains me to swatch patrons struggle to get through those heavy doors with wheelchairs and walkers.
The place since I started going there is just simply falling apart. From equipment to the hot tub that barely ever works in the men's room. There is no real maintenance upkeep. I'm glad I got this survey today. It reminded me to cancel my membership. I've built a gym at my home so I don't need a genesis membership now. So I'll be at the 132nd location today to cancel. I wish you the best moving forward. But it's my time to leave a gym that's falling apart. Good day and God bless.
Love the large cardio area. Plenty of space upstairs in weight area.
It’s in an entertainment district and that parking is included in the membership
Keep the place clean as possible
Get some new equipment
Put sun shades on the east windows (you will save on utilities)
