My spouse and I enjoy participating in Vanessa's Zumba class and Catherine's Line Dancing class. Unlike programs where music is mostly used for background ambiance, music is an integral and essential element of these two dance-type classes. Music becomes a great motivator for moving as well as a source of fun. And these classes introduce me to songs that I would otherwise never have heard.
In addition, before Zumba (Fitness Center) and after Line Dancing (College Street) I use the exercise machines and free weights for strength-training. I've found that strength-training is one the best things for reducing stress because I focus on my workout and just forget about the rest of the world. It is meditative.
And we've met many people and made friends through the YMCA. I've heard about the importance of socialization and it's true especially for retired seniors like us.

Classes that meet my needs
I like that it is uncrowded, although it would be great for the fitness center to expand someday so that the cardio equipment and the weight equipment are in different rooms. I hope expansion is in the long term plan.
It is a friendly place to work out and has everything I want. That said, more classes would be great.
I LOVE Sabrina’s class! Sabrina makes sure she acknowledges us all!! She’s fun, encouraging, joyous, skilled and makes us all laugh all while teaching us important skills to improve our strength and coordination, she teaches us to stretch muscles that otherwise may remain dormant , she gives us brain gyms that challenge us to improve our ability to sequence movements and improve our memories and so much more! Sabrina sets into the world the intention for everyone in her classes to spread kindness , to be compassionate and have grace with oneself, she reminds us to practice forgiveness and to love one another ! This is such an important way to encourage health, happiness and joy! Sabrina is AWESOME 🥰!!
