Our dogs just love it there! We love that there is structure and time for rest so our dogs don’t overdo it and hurt themselves
We are grateful for the wonderful staff in Shirlington!
In general, we would love two things:
(A) if there were a quiet area for dogs to truly decompress off the play floor rather than just go into crate; and, (B) if there were an open outdoor play yard with benches or ramps gif the dogs to play on.
Our dog likes to go and we would like if he could have other options for play environment since he’s still a pup (just turned 1 year old).
It's definitely NOT a healthy environment for dogs. They're kept in a large room w/ no where to truly run...so tensions get high and if your dog gets stressed out, and lashes out at another dog...you get hit w/ the overly-inflated "medical" cost which is just anti-biotics and ointment. The people that work there are absolutely wonderful and I love them all b/c they loved my dog...but I definitely wouldn't recommend if you have a large dog of any breed. That's just my opinion. And if you have a Pittie of any type...best to turn around and go somewhere else...unfortunate discrimination I feel. Again, that's just my own personal opinion & experience. Dogtopia reached out to me and asked me for my opinion and rating and so I'm simply replying. I'm not the type to cause drama and/or seek out negative attention or post negativity...But if asked...I guess I'll answer.
My dog Cappuccino is eager to go in to see her friends, the other dogs too.

Great dog centre. Teddy doesn't hesitate to "be happy" about attending although initially shy interacting with other dogs. Front "greet staff" pleasant. Care staff "high energy" great for dogs and owners. 🧸 Teddy definitely has a favorite "morning" lady. ALL AROUND REVIEW GREAT. Endorsement "A"
People are friendly and welcoming. Taking my dog to daycare made me feel like a failure, but the reassurance and advice they provided, was amazing!!! My pup is thriving there!!! Highly recommend!
Every single time our dog comes home from this establishment, he has some type of scratch or injury on his nose. We originally planned to not come back after the last time because of the scratches on his now, but against my better judgement, sent him anyways. This last visit was especially concerning. While watching the cameras, I witnessed one of the attendants hit my dog on the nose and use a mop to move another dog.
I understand that attendants sometimes need to separate or redirect dogs, but physically hitting my dog is completely unacceptable. If my dog needs to be moved away from another dog, there are appropriate and humane ways to handle the situation without popping him on the nose.
After seeing this firsthand, I no longer feel comfortable trusting this establishment with my dog’s safety and well-being. I will not be returning or spending any more money here. I strongly encourage management to review how their staff handles the animals in their care.
My dog is so well cared for at Dogtopia! I can go out of town and never worry that she will be safe. She is always excited to walk in the door. The staff is amazing - so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
Employees are very friendly and caring of the dogs. Our dog loves going there.
First visit under new management and my dog came home covered in urine. She smelled so bad. Had to give her a bath that evening and wipe down the inside of my vehicle.
Also the new management commented on my dogs collar implying it was not fitting properly only to end up seeing my prong collar twisted and tangled beyond belief. Had to get tweezers and undo individual prongs to untangle.
Daisy loves playing with her friends and the canine coaches. She's always excited to go (well once she quits climbing my leg) and is always tired when she leaves.
All of the staff is so friendly and helpful! And I really appreciate how you handled the kennel cough outbreak. I felt very confident that everybody was committed to keeping all the dogs safe and healthy. I am very grateful to have a place to take my dog where she is well cared for and also obviously has tons of fun!
The staff is so friendly and engaging. I really appreciate the updates that my pup is having an awesome time when I have to be out of town. When I check the webcams, the video frames literally can’t keep up with the wagging tails! Dogtopia has exceeded every expectation and it’s awesome to have peace of mind knowing my pup is being taken care of at the highest levels imaginable!
Friendly team workers. My dog Coco loves it there. When we arrive she pulls me in the door and wants to go play with her friends.
They treat our Billie vey well and always accommodate us even at the last minute !
Lucy and I are always greeted with a lot of enthusiasm. They all know Lucy and are excited to see her. I feel Lucy is taken good care of. She always wants to go and see all of her friends!
This place is amazing!! These people genuinely care about all the dogs. They give every pup attention, everyone is taken care of. There is ALOT to do for the dogs during the week. I cannot recommend this place enough
I love how friendly and caring all the staffs are with Chi. I always feel comfortable leaving him there because i know he’s safe, well cared for and getting plenty of attention. I appreciate the updates they give me, it gives me assurance and peace in mind knowing that he’s happy and having a good time with the staffs.
I ordered extra puppy time for my dog.: but no one emailed, sent photos or videos. I had zero proof.. that this was done but I was charged. When I asked for an invoice and why no one reached out the tech in front said she’d check with the supervisors as she wasn’t there. We were charged before we could review the invoice as this was our dogs first time overnight. The tech was also unfriendly and blah. She acted tired and mostly indifferent. I also didn’t realize how expensive it would be to have her get a bath too. And I had to go back for my dogs bed. Anyway, I may rethink an overnight stay again. Maybe a daycare visit.
The great staff and transparency!
We always feel our dog is well taken care of and accommodated. Even when her grooming apt was changed due to a change in the groomers schedule, the staff worked hard to get her in as close to the date as possible. We also do lov and appreciate the groomer for working with them as well. It’s great having everything in one space. As a healthcare worker we also appreciate the flexibility with pick ups and drop offs. All around great experiences
All of the staff are kind and helpful and both of my dogs have been enjoying their time at daycare! I have a senior dog (16 years old) and they take extra care she doesn't get overwhelmed in the main room and can be in a separate area with other, calmer dogs. They have been great at accomodating our schedule and the dogs needs. I would highly recommend!
Our aging dog seems to be healthier just by coming each week. She's more active there than she would be at home. Very friendly staff!
