I9 has offered our boys a great introduction into team sports from a young age. I will always be a spokesperson for them as we have enjoyed our time but also because the coaches went well above and beyond for my son in a time of need. I have recommended i9 to dozens of friends and joined them on the field as coach for many sports. I appreciate so much what I9 offers and that they encourage all young athletes to participate.
Administratively, I do believe there are obstacles to overcome. The timeliness of communication, not using web based tools that are established for communication and not heavily putting the need for volunteer coaches out in front of parents are the main areas of focus. These issues have and will continue to hurt both the number of participants but also the experience for the players.
I am currently coaching a team of 10 3/4 year olds and the other team doesnt have a coach. This means that the task is left to a combo of the i9 support and myself to assure that the other children learn and grow while there. Madison is outstanding, and we have had many i9 support coaches that were as well. However, they are typically not equipped to do it alone and do not engage parents when there is not a coach. I have been coaching and parenting kids for over a decade but 10 3 year olds is not a one teenager job, especially when there are bats involved haha! I know it is a hard message to get across but I think it is fair to establish that your service is not setup to run without heavy parent interaction and is not priced like soccer shots or other paid instructor programs to do so. So I think it is a message that you have to convey. I do think this would increase participation and also allow for more enjoyable experiences for kids.
I'm not certain how you would handle background checks but maybe there could be a disclaimer that any team without a coach I 9 will assign each parent a day to act as coach. If people feel like they are potentially going to be thrust into it, then maybe they will be more likely to sign up?
Feel free to use the excerpt of the positive feedback for marketing as the admin stuff is really only frustrating for parents unless the parents don't bring the kids back to play because of them.

I accidentally gave a 10 score and meant to give a 1 rating . This program has been the worst experience our family has had. From multiple changes in location leading up to the final location which took us to a 30 min drive. Our new location at AB miller high school was an unkept space for the volleyball teams. The grass was not cut and came up to our kids knees. There are multiple goffer holes and uneven mounds of dirt. Omer witness one boy on the opposing team roll his knee and had to go out of the game from being hurt. I am so surprised that this is the type of environment i9 has our kids playing in. The price it cost does not meat the value and I’m am spreading the word to other families about how inconsiderate this league.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the coach, Ryan. He was so fantastic with the kids. Very kind, patient and encouraging. My daughter loved every minute of it. We will definitely be signing up for fall baseball. We had a great experience!
