The classes and availability of pool and workout equipment
pool area is warm, clean, locker rooms clean,
Nothing against kids, but soooo nice to work out and get changed without
staff is amazing and friendly!
As follow up to me taking an in-depth YMCA Survey, I reiterated there that the YMCA is more than just a fitness center, it is the community's center. Mind, Body and Spirit has always been at the core of the Y values - and never has it been more important to society to embolden those values.
It has all the equipment I need. It’s fairly close to home. And it’s not very crowded during the day.
Proximity to downtown offices. Center is designed for working adults.
Friendly and not too busy. Quiet. Close parking. No parents yelling at their kids. Open swim lanes in the pool.
Staff first are friendly and helpful, then large airy workout space, the track and as I walk the track I enjoy watching basketball practice. The pool table can be fun. .
Overall very satisfied .
Aquatics. Friendly staff.
Convenient, has the equipment I need, and the people there are friendly. The only thing I have an issue with is the lack of parking at times.
well i joined in 1988 i believe, charlie was the floor guy and clint was the guy in charge and then the fellow from michigan who went on to higher places...and frosty weatherling of PLU fame, his daughter ran the fitness, i was 22 and they were my family as i had just moved to tacoma...oh my what a staff...so between moves and kids i have been in and out of your/our center branch and no matter who moves where and those that come and go at the desk and the fix it fellow that has been there for decades, tawny the last director...i could go on and on...its the people

I like the adults only locker on the 2nd floor. That way there aren't children running around crowding the are.
I love the variety of weight machines. There are two of each making them available most of the time depending on time of day.
I love having a pool to use for laps and classes.
I've been a member at the Tacoma Center Y for the better part of 20-25 years. I maintain my membership even though I now live outside of Tacoma and the state for a majority of the year.
I like the small size, the staff, the range of equipment and most of all the pool and spa tub.
I also like this facility limits the number and times children can use the facility.
I also respect the services being offered to the unhoused and disadvantaged in the community.
The facilities are clean, staff are friendly and its just fun to work out at the Y
Yoga classes taught by Diane and the wonderful kindness of Aquatics Manager Nathan
How many different classes you have that are included in the membership and how everyone is so helpful and friendly, at least at my YMCA at market street. I love it there!
People are great
I am disappointed to have the Pilates equipment removed. The explanation that it was in dangerous condition is hard to believe. Compared to what and by whom?
Basketball courts, boxing equipment, pool, steam room, state of the art equipment, no kids, yoga classes
Good classes, good equipment, good people!
That it's an adults only facility, that it's close-by, that it's well maintained and clean.
My sole gripe rests with patrons absorbed with heir cell phones who park themselves on the Pre-Cor machines. I wish the Y had a policy regarding courteous (restrictive?) cell phone use.
The staff is amazing and very supportive and very involved. They set the tone for the energy and the environment for however long my visits going to be. They give you a sense that they want to succeed regardless if it's your first day or you've been coming for years.

FRIENDLY STAFF
After covid, I returned to pickleball, weights, and the track at the Y and dropped thirty pounds. Walking the sidewalks of Tacoma for seven or eight miles a day just doesn't burn calories the same way. Besides, most of my social life is there too.
Great staff, always friendly and helpful. I enjoy the group exercise classes. The facility is always clean and neat. A complete set of any type of equipment you could possibly think of.
A good sense of community. Convenient.
Community, staff, good facilities.
However, I would like to see more emphasis on allowing others to "work in' on weight machines. Also, the Y should strictly restrict basketball use to inside courts (no dribbling, tossing, passing, throwing) outside the court. This is a serious safety issue especially for elderly members and very young members.
#1 - I love that there are no children. I like children, just not at the gym.
#2 - The facilities are kept up well, but I wish the rule about wiping off the machines after use would be enforced.
#3 - Great classes. I love the yoga classes.
#4 - Nice staff. Though I can see that they don't follow through with things they say at times, like saying they will post a sign about wiping off the machines.
However, some things could use some work. The lockers need to be wiped out periodically (all shelves). The base of the machines needs to be cleaned, especially where the bottom of the weights are. It's time to move on from this puzzle, they need to be not as hard so people feel a sense of accomplishment, like the first few (no fault here), it's a great idea.
THANKS!!!
Friendly and helpful staff at the Tacoma Center YMCA plus that equipment is always clean and in working order makes for a great daily or weekly experience at the Y.
